Conor McGregor will fight Michael Chandler later this year. Currently, the pair is filming TUF 31 as coaches before they eventually fight. McGregor is involved in quite a number of things at the moment besides coaching on TUF. An assignment that stood out – he appeared to be training for his upcoming fight and was seen filming opposite Jake Gyllenhaal for his acting debut.
McGregor recently appeared on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox Podcast to promote his upcoming fight and market his new flavours of Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey. He said, “For Chandler, I’m just too slick for him. I’m too skilled for him, and he’s not fought someone like me. I’ve fought someone like him though. It’s the mixed martial arts style. He’s had some excellent fights, and he’s earned his right to be in this position, but it’ll be my job now on fight night to show the level and show there’s a much higher difference in skill level here, and that’s it, so I’m excited to get going.”
So far, Conor McGregor is confident in his approach and the matchup. McGregor has not fought since his horrific leg injury against Dustin Poirier in 2021. The fight against Chandler will determine whether McGregor can retake a title quest.

The upcoming fight against Michael Chandler is crucial to his career. McGregor has not won a fight since 2020 and is on a two-fight losing streak. If McGregor has title aspirations, he needs a victory over Chandler to get going.

Is Drinking a problem for Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor was not drunk during the My Mom’s Basement Podcast, but fight fans have seen him more often with drinks than any other fighter. McGregor is a good businessman and knows how to promote his Whisky, but he will have to know that it does not hamper his commitment to MMA.

There were reports about Conor McGregor reportedly seen on TUF sets drunk and pouring Irish Whisky for the contestants. He was seen with a beer in his hand at UFC 285. Drinking can hamper a fighter from being fight ready. In 2022, McGregor vowed to stop drinking soon, but it has not happened yet. In 2022, he said, “I’m going to isolate myself, stay away from the pub, stay away from my Forged Irish stout, my delicious smooth Proper 12 Irish whiskey and dedicate myself to my craft 100 per cent.“
Abstaining from alcohol is the best thing McGregor can probably do at this point. He needs to be focused 100 per cent on his fight with Michael Chandler if he wants to compete again for the title.
