“Islam is BORING” – Dan Lambert explains why Islam Makhachev isn’t a superstar like Khabib Nurmagomedov

Islam Makhachev is scheduled to fight the biggest fight of his career and yet he is still not entirely in the spotlight. Dan Lambert, founder of the American Top Team explains why Islam hasn’t still reached the levels of stardom Khabib Nurmagomedov reached.
UFC 280 is Islam Makhachev’s biggest event to date. The fighter from Dagestan will take on Brazil’s Charles Oliveira in a lightweight title fight set to happen in Abu Dhabi. Though Islam is finally getting his title shot, most of the promotion for this event has been around the former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and his legacy.
Dan Lambert who is no stranger to the world of entertainment fighting gives his thoughts on the rising lightweight star from Makhachkala. According to the ATT founder, one of the main reasons why Islam will never be as big as Khabib is because the latter had more personality.
“Islam doesn’t have that. He doesn’t seem to have that personality that Khabib developed to talk sh*t. Khabib was a huge star plus the Conor McGregor thing blew him up. Islam doesn’t have that. He’s a little boring,” said Lambert on the Punchin’ In podcast.

Dan Lambert explains why Khabib Nurmagomedov is more famous than Islam Makhachev
Khabib retired in the year 2020 and is still one of the biggest stars in MMA. The fighter despite not having fought for the last two years, is still seen during Islam’s fight in the UFC, coaching his teammate to spectacular wins. Khabib also has never been media-shy and is very honest about his opinions.
Dan believes, Khabib also was a better fighter than Islam Makhachev which was an added advantage. “I don’t think Islam is going to be a huge draw because he is a little boring,” said Lambert.
“Khabib had the benefit of getting a little better as he went. You know beating up Michael Johnson, you know coming out with that wig, he was the first guy to get that over,” added Lambert.
The ATT founder also says Conor’s rivalry with Khabib had to do a lot with the stardom of the Dagestani. “But the Conor McGregor…that’s what made him a star was Conor,” said Dan. Do you agree with Dan Lambert’s opinion on Islam?
