UFC President, Dana White has continued airing his new venture of Power Slap, a slap-fighting tournament aired on the TBS channel. Since the airing of the first episode on Jan 18, fans have criticized the brutality of the sport that does not allow participants to defend themselves.

Some of the most vicious knockouts that have been deemed brain-damaging have created concerns among fans about the nature of the sport and the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s sanctioning of the sport.

Fighters and reporters have mocked the State Athletic Commission as well as Dana White for exploitation of people with financial needs and creating a show out of it. Former UFC Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold called the Power Slap, a big “f**k you” to MMA fighters who have created the platform where the sport is being encouraged now.

At the same time, professional boxer and influencer, Ryan Garcia has called Power Slap ‘stupid’ and has requested to stop the sport at the soonest. According to many fans and experts, any combat sport that does not allow a fighter to protect themselves should not be sanctioned by any athletic commission.

The ratings of the show have also slumped as fans continue to call out the sport for its sadistic nature.
