Henry Cejudo‘s loss against Aljamain Sterling raised the question of his retirement from MMA. The former champion had returned after a three-year hiatus and lost in his first attempt at reigning the bantamweight title. However, it seems like he has made up his mind to take another go at the title. Cejudo challenges the #1 contender in the division, Merab Dvalishvili.
His prospected opponent, Merab Dvalishvili recently shared a photo on social media that brought several critical remarks for the fighter. It was a recent update on the hair transplant he underwent. Istanbul, Turkey is famous for its hair transplant procedures and it hosted the UFC fighter as he underwent his treatment to restore his hairline.
Dvalishvili has many a time faced criticism for not being a serious fighter. He has faced accusations of prioritizing other things over a title shot in the UFC. With the latest update on social media, fans pique into what his intentions are regarding his next bout in the UFC. Cejudo took this frame to attack Merab Dvalishvili in a humorous rant on social media. The Olympic gold medalist asks Dvalishvili to stop ducking him and face him for a fight in the octagon. Henry is ready to make a comeback and take back his seat at the 135-pound UFC title throne.
“Maybe they’ll add some hair on your balls so you’ll man up and fight me,” Henry tweeted at Merab. Cejudo wishes to take on his last opponent’s training partner as he is a prime opportunity to step up for a title fight. Dvalishvili has consecutively won nine of his last UFC fights.
Twitterati react to Henry Cejudo’s rant at Merab Dvalishvili
Now that Cejudo has invoked ‘The Machine’ in his recent Twitter rant, fans are intrigued. They are always welcoming of a good matchup and after Cejudo’s close title loss in his recent comeback, they are keen to see him make another attempt to regain the division. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:
Merab Dvalishvili ranks #1 in the UFC bantamweight rankings. He is the teammate to the UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. Merab has declared that he does not wish to fight ‘Aljo’ and consistently turns down a title fight.
The Georgian fighter hopes that Sterling makes a highly anticipated featherweight debut at some point, thus opening him a gateway to make his shot at a title fight in the division. Cejudo who recently fought Sterling wishes to take down Merab and fans are all for it. It will be interesting to see how this rivalry develops and whether the anticipated bout does take place.
