Khabib Nurmagomedov praises Aljamain Sterling

Once you get the sign of approval from Khabib Nurmagomedov, there are very few validations in MMA that can top that. Aljamain Sterling is highly regarded by the former champ as he calls him “the best in the world” while watching UFC 280 bantamweight title matchup.

Aljamain Sterling took on former champion TJ Dillashaw in a five-round title bout in the co-main event of UFC 280. The reigning bantamweight champ absolutely demolished TJ and won the fight in the very second round. Thanks to filmmaker Will Harris’ series, “Anatomy of a Fighter“, Khabib Nurmagomedov praising the “Funkmaster” is now on camera.

Coach Khabib was cornering Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Belal Muhammad, and Islam Makhachev. While helping Makhachev prepare for Charles Oliveira, the former champ can be seen paying close attention to Sterling beating TJ Dillashaw with impressive wrestling skills.

“This is his position, he’s the best in the world here,” said Khabib while praising the bantamweight champion. A Twitter user clipped the video from the documentary and asked for Sterling’s reaction to the praise. “I haven’t caught up on the series yet. These past few days have been a whirlwind. Might be time to get off Twitter and catch up on things haha,” replied Aljo.

Aljamain Sterling is down to train with Khabib Nurmagomedov in Dagestan

Following Sterling’s comment on Nurmagomedov’s praise, a fan asked the bantamweight champion if he would be down to train with Coach Khabib in Dagestan. Recently Belal Muhammad, who is from America, trained with the Dagestani crew and credited Coach Khabib for his impressive victory against Sean Brady at UFC 280.

Now, Sterling, the bantamweight champion is also interested to train with Team Khabib in Dagestan and test his skills. “I would love to train with those guys in Dagestan. 1000%,” wrote the Funkmaster replying to a fan question.

Belal Muhammad, who is one of the best wrestlers in the welterweight division admitted he had a tough time being the best among the Dagestani crew. It would be interesting the changes Sterling would make to his game once he finishes a camp with the fighters in Dagestan in the presence of Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov.
