One doesn’t need to be confined to the realm of MMA to know who Joe Rogan is. Although the icon got his start in the UFC, he soon spread himself out to other avenues, finally arriving at what is his staple – that is, the Joe Rogan Experience (his podcast).
Joe Rogan’s podcast is one of the most famous podcasts in the world. In a recently published statistic, Spotify crowned JRE as the most popular podcast in the world, for the third year in a row. However, that is confined to Spotify alone. That is not to say that the podcast did any worse when competing with podcasts from a multitude of platforms – from the third quarter of 2021 to the second quarter of 2022, JRE was the most listened-to podcast in the US.
First of, Joe Rogan reportedly signed a blockbuster deal with Spotify for $200 million, which will see his voice be heard exclusively on Spotify. Spotify has been vehement in the support of Joe Rogan, who has been mired in a slew of controversies, regarding Covid-19. Coming to his earnings from UFC events – although there is no official figure for it, per reports he is paid $50,000 for each PPV, which brings his annual earnings to around $550,000, excluding any bonuses that he mints from Dana White’s promotion.
Hence, as a result of his podcast and his long-time UFC gig, the question on fans’ minds must be what his net worth looks like. There is no clear consensus over his net worth, and obviously Rogan has never himself commented on it, personally. However, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the eminent podcaster takes home around $60 million each year, and could have a combined net worth of $120 million. Having signed the Spotify deal only in 2020, it will take time for his net worth to reflect the green.
Despite the controversies surrounding the podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience’s popularity has only surged
As was stated prior, JRE is for all intents and purposes, the most popular podcast in the whole world. Part of why it is so famous is because Rogan, in conversation with his guests, only seldom lets his true feelings be unknown – that is, when pushback is required, pushback is provided by the American.
And because of his beliefs, he has landed himself in hot water multiple times this year, and also the previous two. On his podcast, Joe Rogan promoted views that went against normative and scientific notions about the pandemic – that is, he asked people to be wary of wearing masks, talked about the rogue treatments he was adopting to battle Covid-19 and even suggested that young people do not require vaccination. As a result, popular singer Neil Young had his music removed from the platform as a form of resistance. [H/T Vox]
However, the second half of 2022 has seen some of this chaos melt into non-existence. As the pandemic is being effectively battled, the need to be vigilant about misinformation has slowed down, considerably. And, as a result, Rogan is raging on, conquering new heights in the world of audio media. Additionally, if he keeps inviting blockbuster guests like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the podcast will become an unprecedented force in times to come.
