Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal is undoubtedly one of the most grudgeful rivalries in the history of UFC. Both fighters genuinely dislike each other and never back out from saying something negative about the other in public. However, it wasn’t always like this, on the contrary, they used to be very good friends in their first few years of UFC.
Both the fighters earlier used to train at the American Top Team gym and even lived together for years before falling apart. Jorge Masvidal recently went to the Joe Rogan Podcast show where the fighter talked about his former roommate. Masvidal mentioned that he helped Covington to stay with him when he broke his hand and asked Masvidal for shelter. According to ‘Gamebred’, Covington gave herpes to his girlfriend and later she disowned him.
He said: “I was living out at American Top Team. I had an apartment over there for about a year and a half. He broke his hand, he’s girlfriend had f**** kicked him out of the place because he had given her herpes and shit. No, I’m dead ass serious. So he had nowhere to f***** live. So he asked me if he could crash on my couch, I was like fuck it.”
The information about herpes is very personal to tell the public however, given that both fighters absolutely hate each other, it’s not that surprising to see Masvidal expose Covington like that.
Jorge Masvidal wants to legally murder Colby Covington the next time both fighters get into that cage together
After years of mocking each other online and multiple verbal altercations, both Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington finally got to fight each other at UFC 272. It was an amazing pay-per-view event and especially the pre-fight press conferences which were highly entertaining for the fans.
In the fight, Covington dominated Masvidal with his wrestling and didn’t let him make any move. In the end, the ‘Chaos’ won the fight via unanimous decision. Masvidal was disappointed but still hasn’t given up the idea of beating Covington inside the cage.
“I didn’t get him that time [at UFC 272], but I promise you: Before my career’s over, I’m gonna f***ing murder Colby in the cage,”said Covington at JRE. “Legally… I’m gonna f***ing snatch his soul one way or another.”
Both fighters are still pretty much active and are huge pay-per-view stars and it isn’t that hard to expect UFC to make that fight again in the future. Nevertheless, it will definitely attract a massive audience who will pay to see these go after each other.
