It seems like Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor just can’t stay away from each other – the proximity might be digital, but the animosity is just as real as it was six years ago.
In 2016, the UFC hosted two of its biggest fights ever – in the first fight, Conor McGregor was submitted by a battle-hardened Diaz, who took damage, but jumped at his opportunity, and a massive payday. He wasn’t so lucky in the rematch, however, as he was defeated by McGregor via split decision, and in the process, was knocked down as well.
Six years later, it still feels like there is an air of freshness to the old beef. In a mention of Conor McGregor’s newfound interest in Dana White’s Power Slap League, Diaz wrote on his Twitter, “I already beat you at that game too” and attached a video of their fight, and a slap he had brandished in the midst of it.
Me Vs Nate on it for the title hahahaha maybe that’s a title you’d have a better chance of coming close to winning Nate you little slapper hahahaha

As is the case with Conor McGregor, he never shies away from telling the world how he feels on Twitter. He chimed back, “Got you back with concussions. Real smacks.” “The Notorious” does have a point there – he did, in fact, knock the American down.
At the juncture, Nate Diaz let loose another one of his tweets, claiming, “If submissions weren’t allowed, I knocked you out way faster than Floyd did” and attached a video of him seriously dis balancing McGregor with a couple of precise shots to the head. He got a reply that read, “I carried floyd. Not next time. Like in the pub. One shot. Nighty night I don’t give a rats, U too , 2.”
Can fight fans get to see Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz III?
In anticipation of his return, one of the most hyped potential match-ups for Conor McGregor was in fact his old nemesis Nate Diaz, with whom he shared the octagon on two previous occasions. The question to be asked, then, is if they will complete their trilogy.
As of now, the answer looks to be negative, because Diaz left the promotion after fighting Tony Ferguson in September, an event at which he was pegged to fight Khamzat Chimaev earlier. Moving forward, fight fans should not expect to see Diaz back in the octagon.

That being said, there could be a potential scenario where the two decide to fight it out in the boxing ring. Both of them are boxing enthusiasts, so it doesn’t seem to be a shout in the dark to suppose this could happen in the future.
