Gun control advocates in the US have a big problem with AR-15 rifles. They cite the specifications of AR-15 rifles, similar to various military weapons that can kill people quickly. The rifle controversy did not persuade UFC star Sean O’Malley to purchase something else for his target practice. The bantamweight fighter will compete for the title in his next UFC fight.
The fight against Aljamain Sterling in Boston may not happen due to Sterling’s concern about an injury. Sterling will look to defend his bantamweight title for the fourth time when he fights Sean O’Malley in his next bout. They hyped up their future encounter at UFC 288 after Sterling defeated Henry Cejudo at the PPV. O’Malley looked more focused than ever before Sterling talked about his concerns over the fight.
In the meantime, while Dana White and Aljamain Sterling sort out their differences, O’Malley took his AR-15 rifle for shooting practice. The viral video showcases O’Malley with a pink-colored AR-15 rifle opening fire upon his instructor’s word. The custom-themed pink color of the gun caught the attention of the fans. O’Malley advocates for the color pink and dyed his hair pink at one point in his career.
O’Malley is one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster. He has notable wins over Petr Yan, Thomas Almeida, and Eddie Wineland. His win against Yan became controversial due to the judges’ decision. Fight fans felt that Yan did enough to defeat O’Malley. However, they were appreciative of O’Malley’s skillset to compete with the former bantamweight champion. He will compete for the bantamweight title soon and will look to dethrone Aljamain Sterling from the throne of the bantamweight division.
Coach of Sean O’Malley makes surprising claim about his upcoming fight
Tim Welch is a former MMA fighter who had an average career. However, after developing O’Malley’s fighting style, he has established himself as a great coach. Welch had a surprising claim about Sean’s upcoming title fight against Sterling.
He said, “Having ‘Sugar’ be the champion, what other bantamweight in history has just one-punched people and walked off like Mark Hunt? A bantamweight. A tall, skinny kid with tattoos and curly hair, one-punching people and walking off. The UFC knows what they’re doing. ‘Sugar’ is a big superstar, and the UFC helped with that, so I’m sure the UFC would love to see a KO artist that’s as flashy as Sean be the champion.“
Welch believes that UFC does not want Sterling as the champion because he does not have knockout power. He thinks that UFC wants O’Malley to become the next champion because O’Malley possesses knockout powers.
