CeeDee Lamb won many hearts during the Thursday Night Football game for his out-of-the-way gesture towards a young Dallas Cowboys fan. The star wide receiver gave away his cleats to him as a souvenir for his night at MetLife Stadium.
It happened after the Cowboys clinched a 20-15 victory against the New York Giants when Lamb was jogging off the football field into the locker room. He almost went inside through the tunnel before he heard a young fan shouting his name and asking for his gloves.
Rather than simply tossing him those gloves, the three-time Pro Bowler went out of his way and stopped to take off his cleats. He made several attempts to jump up and hand both his gloves and Nike cleats to the young fan, before heading back to the locker room. The clip of this wholesome gesture by the Cowboys’ star wideout was captured and shared by Mike Leslie of WFAA Dallas.
As much as Lamb was upset after week 3’s game that he didn’t even appear in the post-game press conference, he was overjoyed on Thursday. He caught seven passes for 98 yards and a 55-yard touchdown in connection with quarterback Dak Prescott. The team and he are moving forward to week 5’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, standing at the top in the AFC North with a 3-0 season record.
Overexcited CeeDee Lamb takes blame for taunting penalty
After catching the 55-yard pass thrown by Prescott, Lamb wanted to make sure that the Giants’ defenders saw him catching it. However, it ended up being costly to him as a taunting penalty was imposed on him for his action towards the opposing defenders. But when the receiver talked about it, he said this would be the only penalty of the season.
He reasoned his behaviour with overexcitement stating that it joy of scoring a touchdown got the best of him. But moving forward, he will make sure it doesn’t happen again and this was his first and last penalty of the season.
