- Knicks fans celebrated a historic comeback win over the Cavaliers, chanting "We want Wemby" in hopes of facing Victor Wembanyama.
- Post-game emotions led to fights between Knicks and Cavaliers fans outside Madison Square Garden.
- Knicks fans continued their rivalry with Trae Young, chanting derogatory phrases after their Game 1 victory.
It looks like the New York Knicks fans are already dreaming of taking on Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals this year. They went through a rollercoaster of emotions in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
It was an enthralling match as the Knicks started well and then faltered in the second and third quarters. In the end, they pulled off a historic comeback in the fourth quarter and recorded a 115-104 overtime victory over the Cavs at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks delivered a comeback for the ages, and their fans enjoyed every bit of it. After taking Game 1, Knicks fans took to the streets and yelled out that they want to face Wembanyama. They were heard chanting:
We want Wemby.

New York Knicks fans have always been known for being a passionate fanbase. In their previous round against the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid requested Philly fans not to sell their tickets, as Knicks fans have famously taken over the Xfinity Mobile Arena in the past.
It is not surprising that the fans were on a high after what they had witnessed. Their comeback is the biggest comeback in a postseason game in franchise history. To add to it, it is the largest fourth-quarter comeback in a Conference Final in the play-by-play era. However, they still need three more wins to seal their spot in the NBA Finals, and it is the same for Victor Wembanyama as well.
The 22-year-old is coming off a monster performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs center recorded 41 points and 24 rebounds in a dominant performance on Monday night.
While Knicks fans are celebrating their memorable win, they need to be careful of what they wish for. Wembanyama has been a difference maker for the Spurs so far and has already established himself as the best two-way player in the league. There is still a long way to go for both teams.
Wild fight erupts between Knicks and Cavs fans after Game 1
While Knicks fans erupted in joy at the end of the game, Cavs fans did not. They had to watch their team blow a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter. It was a golden opportunity for their team to start the series with a road win.
Emotions were high after the game, and fans from both teams lost their cool outside the stadium. Clips have been circulating across social media of the two sets of fans getting into it with each other. The fans were seen brawling, and it is not a good look for Knicks fans who have a reputation for not behaving well.

This is not the first time Knicks fans have been caught in such a moment. It was a troubling scene, and fans from both teams will hope it does not happen again.
New York Knicks fans bring up Trae Young once again
It is no secret that Trae Young and the Knicks fanbase have no love lost between them. He may be the most disliked player among the Knicks fans. And it showed why after their win over the Cavs.

While some fans got into a brawl with the Cavs fans, there was a section of the crowd that began chanting:
F— TRAE YOUNG.

The relationship between Young and the fans began in 2021, and it has not stopped since as Young continues to troll the club whenever he has the chance. He has embraced the “villain” label in New York and has no intention of letting it go. All eyes will be on Game 2 on Thursday night.
