5 NXT Superstars who could replace the released stars from the main roster
WWE always manages to surprise their fans. But this time they’ve managed to do that for all the wrong reasons. In a move that suggests that a WWE sale is on the cards, WWE released some of their established main roster stars. Some names are so big as their replacement from NXT superstars seems a little bit difficult.
Braun Strowman, Aleister Black and Lana were among the 6 WWE Superstars who were released recently. Their release is bound to leave a void on both the main roster shows – WWE Raw and Smackdown.
Here is a list of Top 5 NXT Superstars who can replace the released stars on the main roster:
#1 Finn Balor
Finn Balor is undoubtedly one of the biggest Superstars that the NXT brand has ever produced. Balor has been in the NXT Championship run for a while now, but two failed attempts against the current Champion Karrion Kross, might be an indicator that it is time for Balor to move to the main roster.
Balor has experience of performing on the main roster, but for unknown reasons, he was sent back to the black-and-gold brand. Reportedly, Raw has been trying hard to get Balor on their brand, and this might be the perfect time to get him on the show, and give fans something to cheer for.
#2 Io Shirai
The Women’s division on the main roster is packed, but is lacking intriguing storylines. Former NXT Champion Io Shirai might just be the push that the main roster needs. Arguably, Shirai is one of the best in the business, and of all the NXT Superstars she could give stiff competition to the likes of Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Becky Lynch.
Shirai, after holding the NXT Women’s title, for a major part of last year, recently lost it to Raquel Gonzalez. She has been missing from NXT since then, but this could indicate that she is gearing up for a main roster stint.
#3 Franky Monet
Franky Monet (formerly known as Taya Valkyrie) has enough experience of wrestling, and was a well-established star even before she joined NXT. She had successful stints at Lucha Underground and at IMPACT Wrestling, but is the newest among all the NXT Superstars on the list.
With immense experience, Monet will soon outgrow NXT and the main roster will be the place to be, for her. Her character has received immense praise from the WWE Universe and she also made her in-ring debut last week. Unless WWE has something planned for her on NXT, Franky Monet should be moved to the main roster as soon as possible.
#4 Pete Dunne
The fact that Dunne outgrew the NXT UK brand and was moved to NXT, justifies his star-power. While he might not be as massive as Braun Strowman, but he definitely has a similar villain-esque character, making him a like-for-like replacement.
Dunne is more on an unlikely option to make it to the main roster immediately. The reason being that he has just been added to the NXT Championship mix. To end that abruptly might hurt his character. He is scheduled to face Karrion Kross, Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: In Your House for the NXT Championship.
#5 Adam Cole
This is another wrestler who has recently been added back to the NXT title picture. But, out of all the NXT Superstars, moving Cole to the main roster will be easier, as his current storyline will allow him to do so.
Cole has constantly been attacking KOR and Karrion Kross. NXT General Manager William Regal has often used the security to escort him out of the building. Continuing the storyline, Cole could decide to move on to the main roster as he isn’t being allowed to do what he wants.
