Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre had a chance to get back in the title picture – at the WWE Money in the Bank ladder match. But that opportunity was grabbed by Big E. The newest Mr. Money in the Bank recently revealed that he felt bad for someone like McIntyre.

Big E recently appeared on Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast where he pointed out the difference McIntyre celebrating in empty arenas and him winning opportunities in front of thousands of fans.

“A part of me afterwards, as I’ve had time to sit and think, I kind of sat back and felt bad for someone like Drew, who had his biggest moments without people and without fans,” Big E said. “Because if we had that same match in the ThunderDome, I still would’ve been very grateful, I still would’ve had the same emotions, but the stuff that makes you stay up all night [is the fans]. I only slept 90 minutes because I was just sitting in my hotel room buzzing for hours and hours.”

2020 was undoubtedly the year of Drew McIntyre. He kicked off the year with a win at WWE Royal Rumble 2020. He capitalized on the win, and went on to win the WWE Championship, defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36. It was McIntyre’ s first ever Championship win, but it was inside the empty WWE Performance Centre.

McIntyre spent a major part of the year, successfully defending the title, losing just on two occasions – to Randy Orton and The Miz. Before WWE could welcome back the fans, McIntyre had lost the title.

Fans were expecting McIntyre to win the title and earn his moment at Wrestlemania 37, but that did not happen. Since then he tried to challenge Lashley on numerous occasions – but now he has run out of attempts to challenge Lashley.
