Bobby Lashley was one of the biggest Superstars for WWE in 2021. In fact, since he associated himself with MVP and they formed The Hurt Business – Lashley’s dominance has gone on to a whole new level. Initially, in 2021, Lashley held the United States Championship – which he eventually lost to Riddle.

But on the same night, he attacked the then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and helped The Miz in successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. A couple of weeks later, Lashley pinned The Miz to kick off his first reign as the WWE Champion. After winning the title, Lashley kicked off a long feud with Drew McIntyre – which featured a series of matches.

While Lashley emerged victorious against McIntyre on all occasions – he lost the title to Big E, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on him. Since then, Lashley has been after the title. Last he was seen in a Fatal 5-Way match at WWE Day 1 for the title. Initially, this was a Fatal 4-Way match but Brock Lesnar was added to the match just hours before the show aired.

Surprisingly, Bobby Lashley recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump where he revealed that he asked for his removal from the WWE Championship match after Brock Lesnar was added. He reasoned that he wanted to be in the ring with Lesnar for a singles match and not a match which involved other Superstars.

“Initially I said take me out of it and it wasn’t because I didn’t want to have that match with Brock there. It was because I wanted to have a match with Brock one-on-one. I didn’t want to have a whole bunch of different just exactly how it happened. Brock won by beating someone else and that’s not what I wanted to happen. I said the first time I want to be in the ring with Brock, I want it to be one-on-one so if he beats me, he beats me, if I beat him, I beat him. There’s no outside interference,” said Lashley.

At WWE Day 1, Brock Lesnar managed to win the WWE Championship. Lashley was a part of the match and his wait to face the Beast Incarnate in a singles match got longer. But the All Mighty One might not have to wait any longer. On the Raw following Day 1, Bobby Lashley won a Fatal 4-Way match to become the No.1 Contender for the WWE Championship.

At WWE Royal Rumble 2022, Brock Lesnar will be defending his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley. This is a dream match and fans have waited for years for this matchup. Interestingly, even with Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch scheduled to perform on Royal Rumble, Lesnar vs Lashley might well be the match of the night.
