WWE Money in the Bank briefcase is one of the most powerful tools that a WWE Superstar can earn. The briefcase gives them the right to challenge for any Championship for their choice. It is won through a ladder match, where 5-10 participants try to retrieve a briefcase hanging 20 feet above the ring.
The advantage that all the winners get is the fact that they can cash in the contract at any point that they wish. At times some Superstars hold on to their contracts for nearly a year before cashing in. Here is our list of 5 longest WWE Money in the Bank briefcase holders:
#5 Sheamus – 161 days

In the 2015 Money in the Bank ladder match, Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Neville, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns to get hold of the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase. The Celtic Warrior held the contract for 161 days. He defeated Reigns to win the Championship.
#4 Dolph Ziggler – 267 days

Ziggler defeated Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Christian, Tyson Kidd, Sin Cara, Tensai and Santino Marella to win the 2012 WWE Money in the Bank ladder match. He held the contract for 267 days and even defended his contract against Chris Jericho, before defending it again against John Cena in a ladder match.
#3 Seth Rollins – 273 days

The 2014 Money in the Bank match was won by Seth Rollins by defeating Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, RVD and Dean Ambrose. He cashed in his contract, after 273 days, against Reigns and Lesnar and that too during an ongoing match.
#2 Edge – 280 days

The first ever Money in the Bank match was won by Edge in 2005, after defeating, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Kane and Christian. The Rated R Superstar held the contract for 280 days, before he cashed in. He smartly cashed in his contract right after Cena had defended his title in an Elimination Chamber match.
#1 Carmella – 287 days

Carmella not only won the inaugural Women’s Money in the Ladder match, but even went on to win its rematch. She held the contract first time for just 2 days, but when she won the second time, Carmella held it for 287 days. She cashed in against Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 34.
