After a month-long tussle, Cody Rhodes was finally able to beat Shinsuke Nakamura fair and square on Raw this week. Initially honed as a traditional match, their showdown took on a new leaf when it was morphed into a Street Fight following a pre-match backstage scuffle. That enabled the superstars to go out of their shells. Even though the entire thing was poetry in motion, the Portland crowd erupted when Cody brought out a table.
It received the loudest pop of the night. And quoting the same post on WWE’s official X account, tag team specialist Bully Ray took the credit. As the fans know, Bully and D-Von Dudley were the ones who disseminated the concept of using tables in their matches. And last night on Raw, Cody Rhodes took a page out of The Dudley Boyz‘s playbook to get the job done.
It appears that Cody did take his wife Brandi’s request by heart when she asked him to be wary of Shin’s poison mist. That abeyance was on display midway through the match, but it still took out a member of the Rhodes family.

The guy on whom Nakamura inadvertently spewed that red venom was The American Nightmare’s cousin, Berkley Ottman. Fans on the internet thought it was a hoax until Brandi Rhodes confirmed the fact.
Now, Cody can breathe easy for a while. However, considering there’s no rest for the weary, he needs to be up and running. Later this month at the Royal Rumble, he’d be plying his trade to latch a consecutive win under his kitty. The 2023 Royal Rumble match winner is hellbent on doing that.
Cody Rhodes oozes confidence following a major coup on Raw
Shortly after getting past Shinsuke Nakamura on Raw, Cody Rhodes took to X and asked the fans to have faith in him. Even though he’s still believed to be the one challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania, it’s not that simple.
The Rock’s return has completely capsized the existing landscape in WWE. Not only did The Great One plot a comeback, but he set his sights on Roman Reigns too. With that in mind, most of the fans firmly believe that their dream match is nothing short of headlining WrestleMania.
Only 2 steps left BelieveCody Rhodes on X
However, if it does go on last at The Grandest Stage of them all, it might relegate Cody Rhodes’ story to a mere plot with a dubious conclusion. At this point, WWE is staying tight-lipped about their plans en route to WrestleMania; however, Cody is as confident as he’s ever been.
