The rivalry between FTR and Young Bucks is one of the greatest tag team feuds of the modern era. Since they have come to AEW, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have had their eyes set on the Bucks and the AEW titles. After their first encounter in Full Gear 2020, which the Bucks won, FTR had a little disagreement with the EVPs and CEO Tony Khan.
In the latest episode of his podcast, “FTR with Dax” the man himself, Dax Harwood, talked about his relationship with Tony Khan and Young Bucks. Dax said that it was after their Full Gear match against the Bucks that the relationship started getting sour between the parties. He divulged that he was initially upset that they didn’t get any follow-up matches at the time. This was the reason FTR felt “lied to” by Tony Khan.
Dax Harwood said that he was promised that the tag team division would be built around these two tag teams. However, this treatment from Tony Khan was why he felt cheated. At this time, his relationship with the Young Bucks also fell apart. However, in hindsight, Dax Harwood did realize that it was his mistake and take responsibility for his attitude.
He said, “I felt that we were being lied to and I think that my relationship with Tony got even more strained. I felt that the relationship with the Bucks completely deteriorated because of that. Look dude, I’m here right now on this podcast, telling you and the world that I take the blame for that. I take the blame for it because I shouldn’t have taken wrestling so seriously.” (h/t Wrestling Inc)

Will FTR return to WWE?

In an interview with Fightful Select, Dax Harwood revealed that their AEW contract will expire in April 2023. However, a WWE return might not be on FTR’s mind right now. Harwood said that he is discussing his future options with his partner, Cash Wheeler. The duo is even considering taking “a year off of wrestling for major companies and just doing things that are fun to them.” He further said that “having the opportunity to work more indies and various companies have led [FTR] to find out how much they love that landscape.”
In WWE, FTR was formerly known as The Revival. They were the company’s first triple crown tag team champions. The duo was granted an early release from their contracts in April 2020 as they were creatively dissatisfied. Despite being featured across all brands, Top Guys had some of their best career matches in NXT. As a result, the tag team may be more open to returning to WWE now that Triple H controls the on-screen product as he did the developmental brand.
