The shocking return of the Best in the World, CM Punk, has opened the doors to a prospective Punk vs. Austin match at WrestleMania. Over the years, fans have been clamoring for a match between the two men owing to their sharp-tongued promo skills. Having said that, Steve Austin spoke about his friendship with CM Punk in an interview from earlier this year.

While speaking in an interview with Forbes, the 58-year-old opened up about his positive relationship with Punk. The interviewer, Alfred Konuwa, asked the Texas Rattlesnake his opinion about the CM Punk and AEW controversy. Austin indicated that he was clueless about the controversy. Furthermore, he talked about sending a text message to Punk the day before the interview.
Me and Phil trade messages every here and there. We rarely talk, probably once or twice a year. I love the guy, and I don't even know if I mentored him because Punk's probably a lot smarter than I am.
