Ladies and gentlemen, there’s a new champion in town. As it happened, Dominik Mysterio defended his NXT North American Championship against Trick Williams at No Mercy. In a tussle that went down to the wire, the modern-day Latino Heat even knocked out Dragon Lee, the special guest referee, though inadvertently. In the clutch moments, Williams used his ring IQ and made the most of Mysterio’s trickery.
Trick executed a well-placed high knee strike on Dom’s face. The maneuver was enough for Dragon Lee to crawl back just in time and make that three count. And just like that, the WWE Universe in Bakersfield witnessed the crowning of a brand new NXT North American Champion. As most would say, that was quite unexpected. There was little to no belief that Dominik would lose the gold heading into this contest.
That brings an end to Mysterio’s little over 2-month title reign. He’s had quite a few bangers in the meantime. Notably, the 26-year-old barely edged out Dragon Lee this past Monday night on Raw. However, it was only to lose his title at No Mercy. Now that it’s said and done, one might wonder what the future holds for Dominik Mysterio. Well, that shouldn’t be a spot of bother for Rey Mysterio’s son, as he’s a part of The Judgment Day.
One way or another, the stable manages to keep its noses ahead of everyone. At present, Judgment Day is engrossed in a 4-on-4 rivalry with Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. The two sides are expected to settle their differences in a big way. Dom has been an integral cog in the wheel for Judgment Day, and he just continues to impress.

Rhea Ripley has reacted to Dominik Mysterio’s title loss
Without a doubt, Dom-Dom needed his Mami Rhea Ripley in the corner at No Mercy. In the past, the Women’s World Champion has had Mysterio’s back on several occasions. However, due to Ripley’s ongoing absence, Dominik had his back against the wall, and he choked when it mattered the most. As a result, Rhea Ripley is distraught and has shared her reaction on social media.

She simply wrote, “YOU’RE F’N KIDDING ME!…” That sure as hell would be a huge blow for The Eradicator, as her hiatus proved costly for Dom. Speaking of when she’s expected to return, it might be as soon as next week. While replying to one of the queries during his exclusive Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed the same.
Two weeks ago on Raw, Ripley got train-wrecked by a returning Nia Jax. It appears as if these women are going to rekindle their rivalry when Ripley makes it back to the fold. Both Ripley and Jax had a stiff encounter during an episode of Raw back in 2021 that left The Irresistible Force busted open.
