She competed in the 30th Women’s Royal Rumble Match this year but was eliminated by Asuka. Additionally, Deville has been continuing her ongoing rivalry with Charlotte Flair on the blue brand.

In an interview with SiriusXM Busted Open, Sonya Deville discussed being immediately put into a storyline with Charlotte Flair. Deville, while speaking to Dave Lagreca and Sam Roberts, praised Charlotte for everything she has accomplished in this industry. She said, “The second that the title went on Charlotte, I knew that I wanted to go toe-to-toe with her.” The former General Manager also referred to Charlotte as “the pinnacle of the women’s division right now.” She also commented that if there’s anyone to beat Charlotte for the title, it’s her.

On the December 30th episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair made her most-awaited return to WWE after nearly 8 months. Not only did she make her comeback, but she also captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Ronda Rousey on the same night. It left the WWE Universe in shock. On the very next episode of SmackDown, Flair was addressing the WWE Universe about her victory over Rousey. Sonya Deville interrupted the 14-time women’s champion and challenged her to a match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Flair accepted her challenge and successfully defended her championship on the January 6 episode of SmackDown.

The two of them continued their feud on successive episodes of SmackDown. With Deville attacking Flair backstage, their rivalry has culminated at another level. It has led to a proliferation of excitement for the WWE Universe. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley punched her ticket to WrestleMania by winning the 36th edition of the Royal Rumble. It remains to be seen which direction Charlotte Flair’s storyline will take.

Rhea Ripley vows to dethrone ‘The Queen’ at Wrestlemania39

The 36th edition of Royal Rumble aired from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Rhea Ripley did the unthinkable and made history by entering the Women’s Royal Rumble match as a first entrant and winning it over 29 other superstars. She punched her ticket to the “Showcase of the Immortals” and got her opportunity to challenge a champion of her choice at WrestleMania 39.

The Eradicator wasted no time in challenging The Queen for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Grandest Stages of Them All on the most recent episode of Raw following the Rumble. Ripley praised the 14-time Women’s Champion and said that she has much respect for her. But she tells the WWE Universe that she has yet to take her revenge on Flair.

She recalled that three years ago, Charlotte Flair had won the Rumble and challenged her for the NXT Women’s Championship. Flair took everything from her at WrestleMania 36, when she was just beginning her career. Ripley stated that it was time for the right judgment to be made. And that it was time for her vengeance over Flair. The Eradicator promised to take the crown from The Queen and dethrone her from the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39.

The fans are thrilled and excited for the upcoming episodes of SmackDown and Raw as WrestleMania season is on the way. It will be interesting to see how the SmackDown Women’s Champion responds to the challenge made by The Eradicator and which direction the storyline leads the WWE Universe.
