John Cena, who’s currently relishing the release of Ricky Stanicky, has drawn some similarities between what he was like in 2002 and his current self. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the 16-time World Champion disclosed the four traits that haven’t changed ever since. He said both versions of Cena share gratitude, grit, perseverance, and humility.

But apart from that, John vehemently lashed out at himself for not understanding the magnitude of the assignment he had upon his WWE debut. Recalling his debut match on SmackDown against Kurt Angle, The Champ affirmed that he was neither ruthless nor aggressive. And that’s why he failed. Cena alluded to the fact that it aches him to this day.

The Franchise Player also talked about his recent WWE sojourn, which spanned over a two-month-long period. Cena revealed that he wasn’t stressed at all. To have not acted as the linchpin of the on-screen product allowed the WWE icon to help younger talent. The Peacemaker star lauded the current crop of WWE talents for being the driving force behind the company.

Last year, when the actors were on strike, Cena voluntarily put on the jorts and went back to WWE. He got to work with names like LA Knight, AJ Styles, The Bloodline, and more. On a random edition of SmackDown in September, he hugged it out with The Rock in a backstage segment.

That was hailed by many fans and marked a proverbial end to their previously reported beef that dates back many years. Cena’s run halted when he lost to Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel. And after he had minor surgeries on his arms, John went back to Hollywood.

John Cena has heavily teased a WrestleMania 40 appearance

Though Cena’s not expected to wrestle a traditional match at WrestleMania 40, he’s still being considered for an appearance. Following reports of WWE’s interest in bringing him over to Philadelphia in some capacity, John confirmed that he’s free that day.

While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he also addressed the floating rumors of his potential faceoff with The Rock at WrestleMania. The wrestler-turned-actor said he’ll wait until it happens because he doesn’t know about it.

Nonetheless, he heavily teased a WrestleMania appearance. Fan theories suggest that he may arrive at Cody Rhodes‘ aid in his quest to finish the story against Roman Reigns. With The Rock pulling all the strings, Rhodes may need external help. And Cena is someone who can fit in that role quite well.
