Jon Moxley during his time in WWE

Jon Moxley is one of the fiercest competitors in the wrestling industry and was a top carder during his time in the WWE. Moxley has been widely praised for his in-ring ability and character work, with his heroic character work post shield getting more popularity and cheers than Roman Reigns’ heroic character during that time, whom the company was trying to establish as a top babyface. Jon Moxley was voted as the most popular wrestler of the year 2014 and 2015 by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

Jon Moxley began wrestling from a young age and before making his way to the WWE, he wrestled around the independent circuit. After entering the company Moxley became a part of The Shield, which is regarded as one of the best stables in WWE history and was influential in the development of the WWE during their years in the stable. After the Shield disbanded, Moxley and other members of the shield went on to have successful individual careers, with Jon Moxley always competing for the big gold.

Jon Moxley won the WWE Championship once in his career and his bookings in the company were criticized by many, with many saying that the Former WWE Superstar should have won the world title more than once in his WWE career. Jon Moxley was a part of many memorable matches in the WWE but the one which he regards was the best of his WWE career was the one against Triple H for the WWE Championship at Roadblock 2016.

During an interview with My Mom’s Basement in 2020, Jon Moxley stated that the match was one of the last old school matchups in the WWE. He described it as a genuine wrestling moment, a pinnacle, and what he grew up wanting to achieve. The match was won by Triple H, and it was hailed as one of the finest matches of the year.

“That was so unique and like, one of the last really old-school matches you’ll see in WWE probably. That like, I’ll take that over any 70,000-seat stadium, whatever, ‘created moment’ that we overproduced. That was a pure wrestling moment. And to me, that’s the pinnacle. That’s what I grew up wanting to do.”
