The wrestling world is still trying to get over the recent demise of Jay Briscoe this past week. The unfortunate news left everyone involved in the industry stunned. Many wrestlers from various promotions paid condolences to the ROH World tag team champion. Kevin Owens is another name who was very close to the Briscoe brothers during his time in ROH.

On the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the Prizefighter showed his love to the late wrestler in a touching way. In the contract signing segment for his upcoming championship match, Owens came out wearing a black armband with “Jay” written on it. He posted his photo after the show on Twitter as well.

After Jay Briscoe’s demise, Kevin Owens sent out love and prayers to his family in a long, heartfelt message on Twitter. In that message, he called Briscoe a “pillar” of his own career. He reminisced about the time he stepped foot in ROH and how Jay made the Canadian wrestler comfortable before their first match.

Kevin Owens, who went by the name Kevin Steen, was a key figure in the peak years of ROH. On the other hand, The Briscoes have been part of that promotion since its inception. Hence, it is natural for Owens and Briscoes to become as close as they are. Jay even won his inaugural ROH world title against Kevin Steen in 2013. Owens remembered the match and said, “[It] is my favorite moment of my wrestling career, bar none.”
