Seth Rollins keeps reinventing his on-screen character. Remember when he was a pure menace during his hellacious rivalry with Cody Rhodes. However, with the due passage of time, he naturally became over with fans as a babyface. And today, there’s not a single show which goes without Seth Rollins’ theme song being serenaded in unison. Of course, he’s done the work and is receiving all the love in return now.

Back in 2022, the Visinory faced Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules in a Fight Pit match. But, before he entered that Jim Crockett’s promotion inspired structure, Rollins reminded everyone which city they’re in. While making his entrance, he rocked a RVD gear and also did his iconic signature pose on the ramp. Fans in attendance were quick to catch the reference as it was a homage to the great Rob Van Dam.

Also, performing the tribute in Philadelphia, a city which has deep roots going into ECW, was icing on the cake. Well, the man for whom Seth Rollins did that recognized the same, next morning only. Fans started wilding whether it’s a way for WWE to potentially tease a RVD return in future. However, Mr. Friday Night wasn’t keen on buying such fantasy. Instead, it was supposedly a Paul Heyman idea to have that tribute in Philly, as revealed by Van Dam himself during an interview with WrestlingNews.co.

“It’s pretty cool you know because they were in Philadelphia and it was some kind of Extreme Rules match so it was cool to be the role model for that whole thing, for at least Seth. Nah, I found out on Twitter the next day like everybody else. I understood it more the next day as I got a little bit more info and then of course some people are like ‘Dude they’re gonna reach out to you, they’re gonna bring you in’ and I’m like not thinking too much into it. Who knows, I figured it was probably Paul Heyman’s idea so I sent him a fist bump emoji.”

As of now, the picture is still pretty vague for the highly placed matches at Mania’23. With the recent report of The Rock not being able to get in ring shape for Mania, it’s quite possible that Cody Rhodes might be wrestling Roman Reigns. That being said, Seth Rollins, who was The American Nightmare’s rumored opponent for the Grandest Spectacle, needs to find something for him.

The Revolutionary has already confirmed his participation in this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match. To seize a main-event berth with The Tribal Chief in Los Angeles, Rollins needs to capatalize on the forthcoming opportunity. It’s not going to be any easy for even someone with Seth Rollins’ caliber. At this point, it’s about pushing hard and snatch that life-altering Rumble match win for The Architect.
