Kevin Owens has been quite in the limelight as of late. The former Universal Champion is set to team up with John Cena to face Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns on the December 30th edition of SmackDown. This week on RAW, Owens teamed up with Seth Rollins and defeated The Usos. The ending of the match was chaotic, and at the end, it was just Jimmy Uso and Kevin Owens in the ring. After a few escapes from Uso, Owens eventually grabbed him and delivered a powerbomb to clinch the victory.
Kevin Owens only fought for the World Championship once this year. ‘The Prizefighter’ failed to win the WWE Championship on Day 1 this year. Thereafter, he fought WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 39. Owens wasn’t involved in anything big since then. However, the former Universal Champion has now gained momentum in his career with his rivalry with the Bloodline. Fans are hoping he gets a major push in the company.
During a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg of Cheap Heat, Kevin Owens stated that he has two more years in his contract. He said that as of now, there is no reason why he wouldn’t sign another. Owens says that anything can happen in the future, but for the time being, he will give his all to entertain the fans.
“I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t sign another one when it’s done because I don’t feel like I’m anywhere near done……At this stage in my career, I really want to have fun and make sure I’m still putting out memorable stuff for people watching”

There has been a surge in the sale of tickets for the December 30th show of SmackDown. The match is highly anticipated because fans will finally see Cena in action after a long time. John Cena’s last fight in the WWE was against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021. Cena failed to win the Universal Championship at the event.
In the same interview, Kevin Owens praised John Cena’s dedication towards the craft. Owens spoke about teaming with the 16-time world champion, saying that it was going to be a surreal experience and that he would be forever thankful for it.
“I saw in John Cena what I was myself, but I saw it as this guy doesn’t need to be doing any of this, he just wants to do it. Now we get to team on the last SmackDown of the year, it’s just another thing I can add to the list of experiences I’ve had in WWE that are surreal and that I’m so thankful for.”
Kevin Owens has feuded with John Cena in the past. In fact, Owens’ main roster debut in 2015 saw him answering John Cena’s open challenge for the US Championship. The match ended in a draw. Their rivalry saw them competing against each other until July of that year. Owens and John Cena’s singles record against each other at a PLE stands at 2-1, with Cena winning 2 out of the three bouts.
