Despite Cody Rhodes stating that he’s not flinching at the mere thought of Dwayne Johnson or CM Punk taking his spot at WrestleMania, the fans are certainly in a fix. The Great One’s recent return opened the door for his long-awaited dream match with Roman Reigns, which many believe should headline WrestleMania. Offering her two-cents on the matter, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis‘ wife Mickie James has picked a side.
While appearing on the Busted Open Radio, the former Women’s Champion chose The Rock taking centerstage against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania rather than a rematch involving Cody Rhodes. James, showing her due respect for The American Nightmare and the run he’s been on, has a reason for why she doesn’t want him in that spot, at least this year.
If I'm going to — if I have the option to see, if I had the opportunity to watch Roman [Reigns] and Cody again at WrestleMania or Roman and Rock for the first time ever at WrestleMania, you best believe I'm looking for Roman and Rock.Mickie James via Busted Open Radio
Mickie stated that The Rock has carte blanche. That means he would do everything in his power to print millions of dollars through his rumored showdown against Reigns. And to a greater extent, James does have a point. Amidst the hoo-ha pertaining to Cody’s unfinished story and doing what’s best for the business, the entire situation has become the talk of the town.
Some fans believe that WWE has already penciled in the entire scenario and is ready to work on it. That may include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s mammoth bout against his cousin going down at the Elimination Chamber rather than in Philadelphia.
Does Cody Rhodes have concerns over his WrestleMania spot?
This Monday on Raw, Cody Rhodes put the final nail in the coffin against Shinsuke Nakamura. After a misty encounter, The Prodigal Son was able to combat The Artist. Following that, he asked fans to have faith in him, as he’s only a couple of steps away from finishing his story.
A portion of his fanbase is concerned about his potential spot at this year’s WrestleMania, considering there’s so much going on right now. However, it doesn’t seem to haunt Rhodes.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he gave The Rock his flowers, acknowledged CM Punk’s stardom, but didn’t seem fazed by all of that. Instead, he said he isn’t rooting against any of them but working to carve his own path.
