Pat McAfee is a naturally jovial human being. His presence feels so palpable such that no one seems to avoid it. As for his WWE duties, he recently returned at the Royal Rumble. After leaving the company on a temporary basis last September for College GameDay, McAfee is finally home.
Over the past few days, the Colts’ former player has talked a lot about his comeback. Initially the plan was to have him as a surprise entrant in Men’s Rumble. However, it couldn’t come to fruition due to McAfee’s unprepared body shape. As noted by Michael Cole himself on-air, the former NFL punter was at his ESPN studio, the afternoon of Royal Rumble.
Pat genuinely boarded a flight to San Antonio to make the event. As it turned out, his commentary brought back so much refreshing memories. One of the key backstage figures who readily welcomed McAfee’s pitch to return last Saturday is the Chief Executive Officer of WWE. Also, McAfee recently commented on his personal bond with Nick Khan during the latest episode of his own podcast. The former implied how he first had an impression of WWE’s CEO during his CAA days. Also, the Punter said how much he resonates with GameDay, something which Pat wrapped up lately.
“Me and Nick got to know each other really at the end of his run with CAA, before his run at the WWE, but quickly,” McAfee said. “Whenever I talked about ‘GameDay,’ he got it, he understood it and I think it was a little bit better. I appreciate Nick Khan for everything he’s done for me, and for that.”

Pat McAfee is likely to compete at WrestleMania 39
Although he didn’t wrestle in the Men’s Rumble this past Saturday, Pat McAfee is a sure-shot for Showcase of the Immortals. Last year, he battled Austin Theory, which was followed by an impromptu bout against Vince McMahon. After some assist from his disciple, the 77-year old emerged victorious.
Then at SummerSlam in Nashville, McAfee defeated Baron Corbin. Since then, the Indianapolis Colts punter has stayed away from the ring. WrestleMania in Hollywood would be the perfect opportunity for McAfee to plot his in-ring return. When the entire world is watching, ain’t no better place to perform than WWE. On a related note, Pat McAfee’s understanding of this business is outstanding.
His oratory skills wipes out many full-time wrestlers who struggle to put on a decent mic show. WWE fans have already accepted him as the best outside hire this company has ever made. Additionally, the Boomstick respects this sacred mat, which distinguishes him from other celebrity figures.
