Rhea Ripley fights the urge to add real-life boyfriend Buddy Matthews to The Judgment Day

Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley has not been on WWE programming for a few weeks now. However, she has been quite active on social media. When asked about hiring a new member in The Judgment Day, Ripley could not hold back her true intentions. She almost wrote the name of her real-life boyfriend, Buddy Matthews before changing it to Jey Uso.
In a post online, a question was raised which was, “If you can add one member to The Judgment Day, who would it be?” The Eradicator replied to this, saying, “Bud.. Jey @WWEUsos.” It looked like Ripley fought the urge to reveal her real-life boyfriend’s name. Instead, she wrote Jey, as it made more sense in terms of storyline as the group has been feuding with him on Monday Night Raw.
On the other hand, Buddy Matthews currently works for AEW. Interestingly, he is also a part of a group called “The House of Black,” along with Malakai Black, Brody King, and Julia Hart. They have been portrayed as a dominant force on AEW programming, as they were also the former Trios champions. Before joining the Jacksonville-based promotion, Matthews used to work in WWE as Buddy Murphy.
During his time in WWE, Murphy’s notable work was in the cruiserweight division, along with the likes of Cedric Alexander, Tony Nese, Mustafa Ali, and others. Apart from being a one-time Cruiserweight Champion, Murphy was also a tag-team champion with Seth Rollins. This was when he was one of Rollins’ disciples, as the latter played the character of the Monday Night Messiah in 2020.
The relationship history between Buddy Matthews and Rhea Ripley
Buddy Matthews and Rhea Ripley have been dating since May of last year. However, they first met each other in 2020 and have been friends since then. They only made their relationship official in May 2022. Therefore, the exact timeline of the relationship is unknown. However, since then, they have been very public about their relationship.
Both wrestlers are Australians and rose to fame during their time in NXT. Matthews found success in the cruiserweight division of WWE while working as Buddy Murphy. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley debuted on the main roster only to become the top star of the women’s division quickly.
In August of 2022, the two announced their engagement on social media. They received wishes from numerous superstars from WWE as well as AEW, as both work for different companies. Despite that, the couple regularly get together and have enjoyed football matches or other events.
