“As Little Work as Possible”: Road Dogg Explains Why the Undisputed Era Could Never Go Past NXT
The Undisputed Era and Road Dogg
WWE has been working on providing strength and wings to budding talent. The NXT brand of the company works to make the stars in the division ready for the main roster, and one man who prepped them up was Road Dogg! NXT talent has outshone themselves over the years and are expected to do the same in the years to follow, too.
However, there was the Undisputed Era, which performed immensely well at NXT but saw making its way to the main roster. Talking on the ‘Oh… You Didn’t Know’ podcast, Road Dogg gave his take on the likely reason the stable was never called for the main roster.
The entire wrestling industry knew about the potential of The Undisputed Era. Road Dogg, too, felt that the Undisputed Era would be the next four horsemen of the company. However, Vince McMahon differed with his opinion.
According to Dogg, Vince might consider them to cause damage as a stable, but he definitely didn’t consider them capable of facing Brock Lesnar in the ring at WrestleMania. He further added that the management would have to do extra work in case the stable made its way to the main roster “because we’re lazy and want to do as little work as possible.”
Road Dogg appreciates the talent coming from NXT to the main roster
Road Dogg, however, was supportive of the fact the stable didn’t go to the main roster. He is aware of the talent that lies within WWE superstars. He named Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Keith Lee, who are nearing perfection in their work after leaving NXT. These stars are currently at the top level of their game.
“So this was the first introduction to some of these NXT characters for a lot of mainstream wrestling fans, and I think it’s paid dividends,” said Road Dogg talking about the rising talent of these superstars. Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest are currently a big part of Judgement Day.
Rhea Ripley is working its way to the top of the women’s division. She has gathered massive praise for being such an integral part of the faction. Road Dogg was correct in categorizing the great NXT talents as stars on a bigger stage for whatever they have achieved in their lives. As for The Undisputed Era, that is a fond memory of the past, that will likely remain in the past.
