There have been reports that fans might see Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes square off once again at WrestleMania 40. The two superstars faced each other in the main event of WrestleMania 39. Their last match did draw a lot of attention from the fans. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns belong to two of the most legendary wrestling families.
Although The American Nightmare lost to Roman Reigns at The Show of Shows, it looks like he hasn’t given up yet. Cody Rhodes is a highly motivated individual, filled with fervor and a never-give-up attitude. Besides, he is one of the most experienced wrestlers on the roster.
Cody Rhodes is feuding with Brock Lesnar currently. They are set to compete in a one-on-one match at the Backlash pay-per-view set to be held on May 6 in Puerto Rico. The event will be hosted by rapper-turned-wrestler Bad Bunny. Rhodes is one of those wrestlers who deliver 100% in the ring but prone to injuries.
The American Nightmare made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38 as a surprise opponent for Seth Rollins. Things, however, did not go smoothly for him as he suffered a severe injury only after a few weeks of returning. Fans are optimistic about Cody’s future but the chance of an injury cannot be ruled out.
Over the years Roman Reigns has ascended to the main event level. He worked a lot on his mic skills and in-ring moves. Reigns is currently the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Most fans believe that there is no better champion than him at the moment. Therefore, it looks like Cody Rhodes has a long way to go before finally putting an end to The Tribal Chief’s title reign.
Will Roman Reigns face The Rock at WrestleMania 40
WrestleMania 40 or WrestleMania XL is all set to take place in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moreover, the event is unique because it is the first WrestleMania to incorporate Roman numerals (XL) in its logo in over a decade. The last WrestleMania with Roman initials was WrestleMania XXX back in 2014.
The 40th edition of WrestleMania will be held on April 6, 2024. Although there have been rumors about The Great One “The Rock” facing Roman Reigns, the prospect of it happening is low. Also, given the history between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, there are changes that WWE could actually book the two men to wrestle at the main event of The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Roman Reigns is on the verge of surpassing the 1,000-day mark as the Champion on the ‘Night of Champions‘ pay-per-view, scheduled for May 27. It will be interesting to see what all shapes up ahead of WrestleMania 40 for Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Fans are on the edge of their seats to discover who ends the Tribal Chief’s streak.
