As the year is on the verge of being closed, every industry has its eye on the top performers’ list. The hype surrounding the list to be declared is so great that the WWE superstars themselves make sure not to miss a spot. Recently, Sports Illustrated declared their ‘Top Wrestlers of 2022’ list. The 10 spots were filled with names from all the brands of the pro wrestling industry: WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, and NJPW.
As expected by many wrestling enthusiasts, Seth Rollins topped the list! SI revealed the list, which began at number ten, but WWE stars appeared nowhere on the list. However, when the fourth spot was revealed, Roman Reigns was at number four, Bianca Blair was at number three, and Seth Rollins was at number one. The company established its dominance over all companies supporting professional wrestling.
Seth Rollins has had a great run in 2022. The year gave him a roller coaster ride in his professional journey. Despite having the first-ever 5-star rated match of his career, he tasted defeat on multiple occasions. His rivalry with Matt Riddle, which went beyond the camera, will be remembered in the years to come. The year also gave him his United States Championship run after a title drought for a long time now.
Seth Rollins has been a fan favorite for a long time now. He has mastered the art of delivering absolute classics in the ring. Despite the returning Cody Rhodes being the center of attraction of all, Rollins made sure that his efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Serving the company with his consistent appearances and keeping the storylines intact to the red brand, Seth Rollins is indeed the best performer in the world of pro wrestling in 2022.
Seth Rollins thanks fans for ranking him at the top spot
The SI rankings did not go unnoticed by ‘the Visionary’ himself. He took to Instagram to thank his fans for the title. He also wrote that it was an honor to be a part of the list. “Thanks for the love. An honor to be a part of this list,” he wrote. Seth’s reply has been a revelation of his humility and genuine thanks to his fans.
Ranking on one of these lists is indeed a matter of great pride and respect. It gives much-deserved credibility to the star for his performance. It is also a clear indication that the superstar’s work is recognised by people both inside and outside the squared circle.
Certain people, however, did not agree with Seth taking the top spot. Many others were curious to know why their favorite stars didn’t make it to the list of Sports Illustrated. Others claimed that Roman Reigns would be the perfect pick for the top spot on the list. However, it doesn’t matter since the verdict is now made.
