The stage is set for Gunther to defend his Intercontinental Title in a triple-threat match against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 39. Ahead of the encounter, one of the challengers had some unpleasant words to describe his opponents.

Sheamus took to Twitter to promote the triple threat match at WrestleMania sharing the official graphic for the match. However, he added his own flavour to it, describing the match as “Sheamus vs Backstabber vs Sandbagger.” Moreover, the Irish superstar amusingly scribbled out the names of Gunther and Drew McIntyre from the official graphic to reflect his description. The former WWE Champion even said that this match will be “WrestleMania Main Event Night One.”

Sheamus had described the Intercontinental title match as the main event earlier as well. However, WWE has never marketed the IC Championship match the main event. Maybe this is just the SmackDown superstar’s way of saying that this will be the best match of the night. Not only he, but the whole WWE Universe seems to have the same thought.

When Sheamus and Gunther fought at PPV last time they stole the show with their five-star match. Additionally, the Great White has put on bangers with his long-time rival and friend Drew McIntyre too. Thus, the fans are expecting a hard-hitting and show-stealing performance from the three guys if they are put in the same ring on the biggest stage in pro wrestling.

It is well-documented now that Sheamus has achieved every prize the WWE has to offer except for the Intercontinental championship. The Brawling Brutes member has been in pursuit of the title since last September when he fought Gunther. After losing to the champion in two successive matches, Sheamus’ hot chase took a little detour in the tag team division. Nonetheless, the Great White has taken charge of his dream once again, and it seems there will not be a better stage to achieve it than the Showcase of the Immortals.

However, it won’t be easy for the 45-year-old as two huge obstacles stand in his way. One of them is the Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre who held the IC title before, but not since his return to WWE as a main-event star. On the other hand, there is Gunther, the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion of this century and the man who has beaten him twice. It will be a mouth-watering clash in Hollywood as three of the most hard-hitting superstars will go to war at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
