Royal Rumble 2023 event became one of the greatest of all time. It perfectly started the road to WrestleMania as it had a display of great storylines with a lot of plot twists. Rumble has always been about surprising fans all over the world. It never fails to entertain the fans, and this time as well, it stood up to their expectations. The WWE Universe witnessed some shocking moments that will be remembered for years to come.
With Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley winning their respective Royal Rumble matches, there were also some unfortunate situations that took place. Sonya Deville was one of them, suffering from a bad cut just above her left eye at Royal Rumble 2023 in San Antonio, Texas’ Alamodome. She entered the Royal Rumble match just to prove a point to Charlotte Flair, as she is getting a SmackDown Women’s Championship match next week.
Sonya Deville entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match at number 27. As soon as she entered the ring, she eliminated Zoey Stark. She also eliminated Indi Hartwell as well as Nia Jax with the combined effort and help of all the other superstars remaining in that match. After her valiant efforts, Sonya Deville was ultimately eliminated by Asuka. When both women were standing on the ring apron, Asuka kicked Deville, thus causing an elimination. People are hoping that some stitches can fix her up before her championship match next week.

Sonya Deville has a chance of becoming the SmackDown Women’s Champion
The Queen, Charlotte Flair, returned to SmackDown last year and made her presence felt over the whole roster. She defeated Ronda Rousey and won the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Since then Sonya Deville is having several issues with Charlotte Flair which led to an impromptu championship match between them that Deville lost.
After Sonya Deville failed to capture her opportunity and lost, she started attacking the Champion backstage the next week. By doing all these, Sonya wanted one more tittle shot. She also interfered in a segment between Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair at Raw’s 30th anniversary.
This past SmackDown before Royal Rumble 2023, Charlotte Flair got frustrated by Sonya’s continuous interruptions. Thus, she went to Adam Pearce and wanted to give Sonya Deville a last opportunity at her championship. Adam Pearce agreed to it and made the match official for next week at SmackDown. After Sonya’s performance at Royal Rumble 2023, it will be interesting to watch how she takes on the Queen.
