The Beast Brock Lesnar won his first ever WWE Championship against Dwayne The Rock Johnson in 2002. The remarkable match in 2002 was the only high-profile match between the two megastars in WWE. However, according to some reports, WWE wanted the anticipated rematch to take place at WrestleMania 30 between the Rock and Brock Lesnar before Lesnar faced The Undertaker.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had plans for a match between Rock and Brock at the Show of Shows in 2014. Before, it was scrapped due to injury concerns of Dwayne The Rock Johnson. However, he revealed the original plans of WWE, as Dave said, “The original plan was for him to continue wrestling at WrestleMania with a one-year build for a 2014 match with Brock Lesnar.”
Furthermore, Meltzer stated that movie studios didn’t want Dwayne to suffer any critical injuries, as it could affect the movie schedules. Meltzer said, “He never did another match, as the movie studios didn’t want him to risk injury. So doing WrestleMania would also depend on movie scheduling.”
Brock Lesnar went on to face The Undertaker, which led to the end of the Streak of the Deadman. The match with The Undertaker elevated Brock to another level. On the other hand, The Rock was in the opening segment with Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 30.
