“Really ready to step up”: Paul Heyman discusses next challenger for Roman Reigns

Lesnar, Reigns and Heyman

Roman Reigns is gearing up for the greatest title defense of his current Universal Championship reign. He made a thunderous return to WWE at Summerslam 2020 and has been holding onto the Universal title since Payback 2020. For over 500 days, the belt has been sitting comfortably on the Tribal Chief’s shoulder.

Throughout his reign as the Universal Champion, the Head of the Table has successfully defended his title against the likes of John Cena, Edge, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan and Finn Balor among others. But for the first time in nearly two years, Roman Reigns’ run is seriously under threat. He will be defending the title against Brock Lesnar.

But this isn’t all. The stakes are even higher. Not only the Universal title, but the WWE Championship is going to be on the line as well. The Beast Incarnate and the Tribal Chief will be colliding in what is being touted as the “Greatest Wrestlemania Main Event of All Time”. We are just days away from the epic collision of the two behemoths.

It seems quite unlikely that Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ run will be coming to an end anytime soon. But one major issue that might arise due to his win, is the fact that the Tribal Chief has already powered through almost the entire roster – making it hard to build a new rivalry post Wrestlemania 38. His Special Counsel Paul Heyman recently appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani where he discussed the possibilities of the next feud.

“I think there are some people who are really ready to step up and I’m not going to name them as it is up to them to step up. And they’re not going to get the benefit of my endorsement if they don’t know that it’s time for them to step up. There are still some very big-money matches for Roman Reigns,” mentioned the Special Counsel.

Considering that the Wrestlemania Sunday main event is going to be a Title Unification match, it would be safe to assume that the Champion will be appearing on both the main roster brands. This opens up interesting possibilities for the Champion. On Smackdown, Drew McIntyre is eagerly waiting to get back in the Championship scene.

Similar is the case with Raw. Bobby Lashley who returned at Wrestlemania Raw, will also be raring to go after the top title. These two Superstars are the top contenders for go after the title. In addition to them, top stars like Randy Orton and AJ Styles could also be great challengers.
