WWE takes major step after receiving heavy online backlash over the planned main event of Bad Blood
The upcoming Bad Blood premium live event has a couple of match contenders vying for that elusive main event spot.

WWE will present the Bad Blood PLE from Atlanta. With a high-stakes Hell in a Cell matchup already official between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, the fans were expecting it to close out the night. However, WWE currently has Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu lined-up as the main event.
That ensued a persistent outcry on social media, with most fans resisting the idea. As per Fightful Select, WWE has taken the online hubbub into consideration. The company’s now weighing-in the arguments regarding what should headline the Bad Blood PLE.
There are people in WWE advocating for both the Hell in a Cell match as well as the star-studded tag team affair to land the closing spot. Eventually only one will prevail. However, either one could get the nod to go on last at the State Farm Arena. Punk and McIntyre have had a lengthy rivalry that some believe has overstayed its welcome.
But what a fitting way it’d be to close it out inside the unforgiving 20-foot-tall structure. Both men have a golden chance to pay homage to the first-ever Hell in a Cell match featuring The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels that went down in 1997 at the inaugural Bad Blood event. On the other hand, there would be an obvious temptation to let Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes main event the show.
The state of Georgia has been an integral part of both men’s humble beginnings. Reigns played college football for the Georgia Institute of Technology. Meanwhile, Cody is billed from Atlanta. The local crowd is likely to rally behind these men, and it might be enough for the makeshift duo to outweigh Punk and Drew’s case.
What other matches are on the card for WWE Bad Blood?
There’s a lot to look forward to at Bad Blood. Both women’s titles will be up for grabs. Liv Morgan is set to defend the women’s world title against Rhea Ripley with Dominik Mysterio locked inside a shark cage.
Next, Nia Jax will also put her gold on the line against Bayley. In some Judgment Day drama, former stablemates Damian Priest and Finn Balor will go to war after having a major fallout at this year’s SummerSlam.
Moreover, in a yet-to-be-confirmed match, Gunther is expected to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Sami Zayn. If it happens, that’d ultimately break the streak of five-match PLEs, something that the fans had been clamoring for in recent months.
