The Raw after WrestleMania ushers in a fresh beginning for WWE. It brings with it lots of spectacular surprises and flabbergast. However, one of the most staggering surprises came when Brock Lesnar ambushed Cody Rhodes out of nowhere this week at Raw. It came as a bombshell to the WWE Universe. According to rumors, there could be multiple reasons behind his assault on Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes fought Roman Reigns this year at the Showcase of the Immortals. However, The American Nightmare ended up being a losing effort, and he could not close his chapter. Following the Raw after Mania, Rhodes paired up with Brock Lesnar to face Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a tag team match. However, things took an appalling turn when Lesnar ambushed Rhodes and completely annihilated him.
Following the assault, there have been various rumors and specifications amongst the WWE fans. Take a look at some possible reasons why Brock Lesnar attacked Cody Rhodes this week at Monday Night Raw.

1) WWE cooking up Cody Rhodes’ tale for WrestleMania 40
According to reports, WWE has started to plant seeds for Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 journey. The assault on Rhodes this week on Raw was a glimpse of it. WWE wants to build the American Nightmare and highlight his incredible journey to Philadelphia at the Showcase of the Immortals next year. Moreover, Triple H is known for his long-term storytelling. Therefore, it looks like the fans will get to see the same in Rhodes storyline for the next year.
WWE will portray his journey as that of a man who faced adversity and rose from the ashes to finally finish his story. The company is focusing on accentuating the peregrination of Cody Rhodes. Therefore, it looks like this is one of the many reasons why WWE showed him mercilessly obliterated at the hands of The Beast Incarnate. Facing tribulation, the 37-year-old will stand up, and therefore, it will add prominence and stature to his story.
As there’s a saying by Octavia E. Butler, “In order to rise from its own ashes, a Phoenix first must burn.” Therefore, it looks like WWE is making Cody Rhodes walk on the same path. The American Nightmare will eventually rise up to reach his glory and finish his story at WrestleMania 40. The segment on Raw was just the inception of his astounding journey.
2) Brock Lesnar finally reinstates The Beast Incarnate
Ever since Brock Lesnar returned to WWE with his cowboy gimmick, the fans have loved his babyface character. However, Lesnar’s dominating aura has surely faded away with that ebullient and vivacious gimmick. The fans haven’t gotten to witness his dominating beast mode since then. Moreover, the former Universal Champion has struggled to get consistent wins on the roster and somehow lost his momentum.
Therefore, it looks like WWE has finally decided to reinstate the beast within Lesnar. Raw after WrestleMania was the place where WWE pulled the trigger. The catastrophe that Brock Lesnar brought to Raw was the epitome of that. Cody Rhodes just happened to be the first victim of the carnage. Therefore, it looks like the fans will finally get to see the dominant “The Beast Incarnate” gimmick of Lesnar once again.
WWE gave a glimpse of it this week on Raw when Brock Lesnar unleashed the beast within. As a result, this might lead to a match between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar at the Backlash. It’s just a matter of time before the fans once again see The Beast Incarnate devastating and annihilating his opponents in the ring. The Raw after Mania was just a preview of that.
