WWE Wrestlemania Backlash predictions
WWE’s new cycle of pay-per-views is just a few hours away. The newly named PPV – Wrestlemania Backlash is following WWE’s biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania 37. The show will majorly focus on setting up storylines for the rest of the year.
Six matches have been announced and five of them will have Championships on the line. Here is our prediction for WWE Wrestlemania Backlash.
Cesaro def. Roman Reigns (New Universal Champion)
This is one of the boldest predictions on this list. Roman Reigns has been on a dominant run since returning at WWE Summerslam. But it’s the perfect time for Cesaro to take the title from the Tribal Chief.
Cesaro has been dominating Reigns throughout the buildup of this match. Addition of Jimmy Uso makes the scenario more interesting. Jimmy could cost the match to Reigns, earning Cesaro his first Universal Championship reign. Mind you, this won’t affect Reigns’ built and winning the title back in the future will only make him stronger.
Rhea Ripley def. Asuka and Charlotte Flair (retains Raw Women’s Championship)
Asuka will be trying to reclaim the title that she lost at Wrestlemania 37. But Charlotte Flair has been added to the mix as well. While Flair has been on a dominant run since she returned to WWE Raw. But WWE has been constantly pushing Ripley.
Ripley losing, right after winning the title at Mania would affect her credibility. Hence, Ripley should be retaining the title. Additionally, Alexa Bliss also has her eyes set on one of the female wrestlers. She could get involved in the match, allowing Ripley to retain.
Bianca Belair def. Bayley (retains Smackdown Women’s Championship)
Bianca Belair is currently the most dominant wrestler in the women’s division. Her segments with Bayley, in the build-up to this feud have been absolutely gold.
Considering the heat that this feud has generated, WWE might have Belair win this match and continue this feud till WWE Summerslam.
Bobby Lashley def. Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman (retains WWE Championship)
Three of the toughest men on the WWE Raw roster will be battling for the WWE Championship. But Lashley has a slight edge over his competitors, due to the presence of MVP.
Triple-threat matches have a no-disqualification angle to it. MVP can work around this and tilt the match in favor of Lashley.
Rey and Dominik Mysterio def. The Dirty Dawgs (New Smackdown Tag Team Championship)
Over the last few months, The Mysterios have been involved in a feud with The Dirty Dawgs. Since the last couple of episodes of Smackdown, The Mysterios have constantly managed to come out on top.
The momentum is clearly with The Mysterios and we could see a father-son duo to become new Tag Team Champions for the first time ever.
Damian Priest def. The Miz (Lumberjack match)
Since debuting on the main roster at WWE Royal Rumble, Priest has been stuck in a feud against The Miz and John Morrison. The feud has been stretched for far too long, and we might see its conclusion at WWE Wrestlemania Backlash.
Priest has chosen the stipulation for this match – Lumberjack match. This prevents The Miz from using his sly tactics of moving in and out of the ring. With Priest completely destroying The Miz, we might finally see all of them moving ahead with newer feuds.
WWE Wrestlemania Backlash airs live on 16th May, 2021.
