In Short
  • Dianna Russini is accused of having intimate relationships with multiple NFL coaches, including Mike Vrabel, Sean McVay, and Bill Belichick.
  • The affair scandal began when intimate photos of Russini and Vrabel surfaced, revealing a relationship dating back to 2021.
  • Russini has resigned from her position at The Athletic amid the controversy, while Vrabel continues as head coach of the Patriots.

The Dianna Russini–Mike Vrabel scandal has become the biggest story of the current offseason. It all started when Page Six (New York Post) published an article containing intimate photos of Vrabel and Russini.

The photos were taken at a luxurious hotel in Sedona, Arizona. Since then, several photos and documents have surfaced from various sources, hinting that Vrabel and Russini have been in an extramarital relationship as early as 2021.

Around that time, Vrabel coached the Tennessee Titans, and Russini worked for ESPN. In 2023, Russini joined The Athletic, the sports wing of The New York Times. The Titans sacked after Vrabel led them to a 6-11 record. He accepted an advisor role with the Cleveland Browns after failing to land a coaching or coordinator’s gig. The Patriots appointed him as head coach ahead of the 2025 season.

Vrabel led the Patriots to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Seattle Seahawks. AP voted Vrabel as the coach of the year, ahead of Jaguars’ Liam Coen and Seattle’s Mike Macdonald.

In April, Page Six dropped a bombshell about Vrabel having an affair with Russini. Vrabel has been married for more than twenty years and has two sons, while Russini got hitched in 2020 and is the mother of two boys.

That’s not all. A veteran NFL scout who goes by the name “AngryScoutVet” alleged that Russini has had illicit relationships with coaches and executives throughout the league.

On Thursday, he responded to a tweet that stated that Russini might end up doing an exposé on all the other coaches she has been involved with. The former scout named a few, including Denver head coach Sean Payton and the GM of the Houston Texans, Nick Caserio. AngryScoutVet wrote:

There are a lot. Nick Caserio, Sean Payton, [Mickey Loomis], [Sean] McVay, Bill B [Belichick], and many others rumored. I know [Nick] Caserio was dating her while he was married. A lot she could drop.

This is not the first time he has made such remarks against Russini. This tweet is an echo of his past statements.

Is Dianna Russini’s second child named after Mike Vrabel?

A couple of months after the boat ride, Russini gave birth to her second son and named him Michael Andrew. Vrabel’s first name is also Michael. But it took conspiracy theorists five years to connect the dots. However, they have been proven wrong.

According to TMZ, Russini named her son after her older brother, Michael Russini.

Russini has resigned from her post as the leading league insider for The Athletic. Vrabel remains the coach of the Patriots and has received support from his players.
