In Short
  • AJ Brown's potential trade to the New England Patriots is reported to be "almost a done deal."
  • The Philadelphia Eagles are facing a decision on AJ Brown's future as frustrations with the team grow.
  • Jason McCourty believes AJ Brown's arrival will significantly enhance the Patriots' receiving corps and make them contenders.

June 1st is fast approaching, which is the cut-off date when the Philadelphia Eagles will decide on their future with star wide receiver AJ Brown.

Over the past two seasons, the 28-year-old has given enough indications that he is not happy playing for them. Even though one campaign had a silver lining in the form of a Super Bowl, overall, he is frustrated.

The Ole Miss Rebel wanted to have a greater impact on the offense, and this past campaign, the obvious focus on Jalen Hurts made matters worse. The QB-WR relationship was broken, and they drifted apart.

Rumors of multiple trade requests angered Eagles’ fans. But that was when they were not ready to accept the fact that the pass catcher was done with the team.

He wants to move on, and even though the franchise has stated otherwise so far, the writing is on the wall. This cut-off marks the time when the Eagles will see a significant chunk of his dead cap vanish.

All the people on the inside that they know continue to echo the same sentiment that it’s almost a done deal that he’s gonna be a New England Patriot.

Jason McCourty said on Up & Adams

This was the former New England Patriots cornerback who believes AJ Brown’s trade to Foxborough is a done deal. It is a matter of time before it is announced.

Whatever news he has been receiving from sources inside his former team, McCourty is certain that the wideout will catch passes from Drake Maye next season.

Jason McCourty claims Patriots are ‘perfect’ for AJ Brown

Before acquiring AJ Brown, the New England Patriots made some moves at the wide receiver position that raised some eyebrows. Not in a bad way, as they first let go of serial distraction Stefon Diggs.

With the money they saved on the mercurial wideout, they signed Romeo Doubs to a similarly long and lucrative contract. Along with the arrival of Mack Hollins and the rise of Kayshon Boutte, Massachusetts sports fans will be happy.

The Patriots just make so much sense. The relationship he has with Mike Vrabel. Going with a QB in Drake Maye… giving him a target on the outside.

Jason McCourty said

This is the former Super Bowl champion reiterating that, despite the wealth of talent, Brown’s arrival will level up this group to be one of the best units in the league.

Along with a humble quarterback and a head coach with whom he has a relationship, Jason McCourty believes the Eagles’ superstar will thrive on his favorite team. Brown’s ability to use his physical tools and great hands to affect the top third of the field can do wonders for a team that could not impose its will in Super Bowl LX.

Patriots will be contenders with AJ Brown, as per Jason McCourty

After he detailed how perfect the future marriage between AJ Brown and the New England Patriots can be, host Kay Adams asked Jason McCourty what he felt his former team could do in the upcoming season.

I think they made some really good moves in the offseason… I still see them as contenders in the AFC.

Jason McCourty replied

The 38-year-old first called out those critics who cited the Patriots’ easy schedule to discredit their run to the Super Bowl last season. McCourty believes that even if it were true, one cannot take away the fact that they won 14 games.

He then pivoted to how the same critics point out that this season, the team’s true colors will show. The former defensive back believes that despite the tougher schedule, his former team has enough talent and motivation to be a contender.

There may not be a repeat of their run to the biggest game of the season. But he warned that this team is loaded with young talent who are still developing. Once they hit their stride, a ring might not be out of the picture.
