Much has been made, and will continue to be made, of AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts‘ relationship during their time together on the Philadelphia Eagles.

The two started off life together as great friends, which led to some good chemistry on and off the field. Their respective partners also became close, and fans felt the duo would lead the Eagles to a few Super Bowls.

They did, twice, with one loss and one win. The latter, an impressive performance against the dynastic Kansas City Chiefs, was more about their defense and Hurts’ ability with the ball.

The QB won Finals MVP and has since seen the offense cater to him, rather than his star wideout. Since then, their relationship started to deteriorate, and they arrived at a situation where they were almost not talking to each other.

Fast forward to now, and AJ Brown no longer has to avoid his quarterback whenever they are at the Eagles’ facilities. However, the Eagles still dismiss those rumors of a rift.

I talked to Big Dom about this,… he was adamant that it was not true.

Mike Garafolo revealed on Good Morning Football

The Insider was referring to his conversations with Dom ‘Big Dom’ DiSandro about social media rumors that Haason Reddick and Brown were traded away because of their rift with Jalen Hurts.

Big Dom told him that the pass rusher was sent to the New York Jets because he wanted a big payday. On the other hand, a rift with the QB is not what led the WR to head to Foxborough.

AJ Brown subtly dissed Jalen Hurts in final message to Eagles

The reason Mike Garafolo got talking to Big Dom about these rumors is because of what transpired when AJ Brown visited the Philadelphia Eagles for one last time.

After departing for the New England Patriots via trade, the Ole Miss alum returned to his former team to pick up his remaining personal items. The franchise has a wall of all its Pro Bowlers, and the Mississippi native wrote this alongside his picture.

The best to ever play here. Always open.

AJ Brown wrote on the Eagles’ wall

When Mike Garafolo revealed this, his Good Morning Football colleagues let out a chuckle. They know what that message meant, and more importantly, who it was for.

Sure, any great player will think that they were the best to ever play for the franchise. But to write that he was ‘always open’ was a clear shot at Jalen Hurts’ inability to target Brown despite being open on multiple plays.

The 28-year-old has had his ‘questionable’ moments on the field. But many believe it was all due to the relationship with his signal caller deteriorating over time.

AJ Brown may not have to stay open for Drake Maye

Now that Brown has made it clear he was open, but Hurts would not target him, the WR may be hoping that things change at the New England Patriots.

For starters, he has Mike Vrabel in his corner. The much-maligned head coach has helped Drake Maye develop into an MVP-caliber playmaker.

If he can get them to develop chemistry quickly, the sky is the limit. Now that the two are in training camp, the franchise is not stopping itself from posting any and every highlight involving the two.

The Patriots posted a clip where Maye receives the snap in a shotgun formation, turns left, and throws a beautiful pass towards his newest receiver’s back shoulder.

As is expected from someone as talented as the three-time Pro Bowler, he timed his jump accurately and caught the ball with both hands with the defender still on his back. If this is a precursor for their future connections, the father of two may make a statement to his former team.
