The past couple of seasons have been difficult for Dak Prescott and his Dallas Cowboys, as they missed the playoffs both times. One was primarily due to his injury, but the 2025 season was a disaster.

The quarterback helmed what was arguably one of the best offenses in the league. However, their horrible defense saw him and his unit under pressure, just to score more points.

This time around, owner Jerry Jones has made sure they do not have a repeat of that situation. Out went Matt Eberflus, in came Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive guru Christian Parker.

On top of that, the billionaire was active this offseason and ended up building a defensive unit many believe is good enough to reverse the tide.

Now that George Pickens has signed, at least for next season, the offense is expected to improve further. With all that going for them, Prescott is aware of what is least expected of the Cowboys.

That’s our goal, that’s a minimum. When you have a team like this, and they’ve done everything they have in the offseason, obviously, we got to push and get better on offense, but when we know we’re already improving on defense, that’s the minimum. That’s everybody’s goal in here.

Dak Prescott told reporters

The Cowboys’ media department published this exclusive interview where the $60 million earning quarterback made it clear he and his teammates are pushing each other to reach and win in the playoffs.

He pointed out how both units are improving, and that the hunger is there, particularly amongst players such as Quinnen Williams, who has not experienced the postseason.

Dak Prescott hails George Pickens’ ‘energy’ on return from holdout

Before talking about the ‘minimum expectations’ this season, a reporter started the interview by asking Dak Prescott about George Pickens’ return from his holdout and how it galvanizes the locker room.

You feel his energy, you feel his presence. It’s in the locker room. Obviously, it’s out there on the football field, and just to get back in sync throwing, yeah, everything felt good. He looks great. I know he’s going to be ready for camp, and the excitement is how you can feel it.

Dak Prescott replied

The signal-caller went on to talk about how he knew that his WR2 was going to return at some point. He understands the complexity of negotiations, saw Pickens miss some sessions, but is glad he is back.

When further pressed about the time they have missed to work on their chemistry, Prescott made it clear that the Georgia Bulldogs alum is elite at what he does.

He also knows his quarterback’s intangibles, which is why the 32-year-old is not worried about Pickens being ready for the season. Prescott is sure the wideout will be in sync with him.

Dak Prescott jokes about not knowing about weddings

A while later, a reporter asked Dak Prescott whether he would attend tight end Jake Ferguson‘s wedding with former Miami Hurricanes basketball star, Haley Cavinder, and what his role would be.

Think I’m walking somebody down… Yeah, I’m a groomsman. I don’t know about weddings, man.

Dak Prescott said

The four-time Pro Bowler left reporters in stitches as he was referring to his canceled wedding with ex-fiancee, Sarah Jane Ramos. The wine and spirits consultant called their nuptials off after catching him DMing other women through his burner phone.

She has not completely left him out of her life, as Ramos still has pictures of her time with Prescott on her Instagram. But it is clear that their time together is over, and any chance for the Mississippi State alum to experience weddings is that of his teammates and friends.
