Things are slowly starting to take shape inside the Dallas Cowboys building. It’s a big year for a team that missed the playoffs two years in a row. Quarterback Dak Prescott stayed in the MVP conversation for a chunk of last season, but as the Cowboys lost more games, his bid got lost in the matrix. Prescott is targeting a strong comeback.

Thanks to Prescott, the Cowboys’ offense looked solid, racking up 471 points. However, the defense let the Dallas outfit down. They conceded 511 points (most in the league) and lost more games from winning positions than anyone else.

Jerry Jones fired the previous coach and hired Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator. There’s already a visible change in the atmosphere inside the locker room.

One of the captains on the defense is defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Jones traded for Williams from the Jets in the aftermath of the Micah Parsons fiasco. The All-Pro athlete made an immediate impact with 21 tackles and 19 quarterback pressures.

Williams recently told Prescott his desire to taste the thrill of postseason football. Prescott promised to make the ex-Alabama man’s dream a reality.

I told him I’ll get you to the playoffs, but I need you to go help us win it.

The Jets drafted Williams third overall in 2019. He made over 90 appearances for the Gang Green before arriving in Dallas.

Dak Prescott gives his honest opinion on George Pickens attending minicamp

Throughout the first phase of the off-season training sessions, the media only cared about whether Jones would give wide receiver George Pickens a long-term contract. Pickens deserved the extension after the season he had, where he registered 1429 yards and 9 touchdowns.

After Jones refused to yield, Pickens agreed to play the 2026 season under the franchise tag. However, he missed the voluntary part of the camp, creating a sense of panic among the Cowboys fans. Prescott tried his best to calm the situation down. Pickens finally showed up for practice on the first day of mandatory minicamp.

Pickens only had his physical on day one and stayed away from practice. He was finally seen doing a light workout on Thursday. After practice, Prescott showered the Pro Bowl wideout with praise.

It’s great. You feel his energy. You feel his presence. It’s in the locker room. Obviously, it’s out there on the football field. Everything felt good. He looks great. I know he’s going to be ready for [training] camp. The excitement, you can feel it.

Pickens is set to earn $27.3 million in 2026. He shut down media claims that he wasn’t going to attend minicamp.

Nah, I’m here. … I’m happy to be back. It’s football first.

Can Dak Prescott win the MVP?

Prescott had a great run last year. He played every game. Prescott completed 404 passes (most in the league) for 4552 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Sure, he’s a year older, but Prescott is good enough to throw more than 30 touchdowns again. So, it will not be surprising to see him in the mix for the MVP title. However, winning the Super Bowl takes precedence over individual accolades because the Cowboys haven’t won it for three decades.
