It has been nearly three weeks since LeBron James signed for the Philadelphia 76ers. However, it looks like the NBA world has still not gotten used to it.
After joining the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in 2018, many predicted that James would end his career in Hollywood. It did seem like that at first as he played for them for eight years, which was his longest single stint in a franchise. But the King had other plans.
American singer Hilary Duff referenced James at Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion Sunday night. While James has already become a beloved figure in Philly, Duff took the opportunity to name-drop the biggest name in the NBA. When speaking to the crowd, she said:
We started in Florida, went to LA, we’ve ended up here… I’m starting to feel like LeBron!

Duff’s Lucky Me tour began a couple of months ago, and her latest stop was Philly. Therefore, the route of her latest music tour is somewhat reminiscent of James’ career. The 76ers represent the fourth franchise of his illustrious career.
James’ move to Philly caused a huge storm in the NBA world. While some have criticized him for the move and labeled it as “ring chasing”, some believe that the move is a new challenge for him as the 76ers have not won a championship since 1983.
Meanwhile, Duff’s music tour is expected to continue till early next year as she tours worldwide, but Philly will be the final stop of James’ career.
Can LeBron James deliver a championship in Philly?
Since James lifted the championship in 2020, he has not reached the NBA Finals. His best result was a Western Conference Finals finish in 2023. However, his latest move presents him with a very good opportunity to win his fifth championship.

It is hard to argue against the 76ers having the most dominant starting five in the NBA today. With Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey within their ranks, the 76ers traded for Jaylen Brown and then signed James in what may be their best-ever offseason in terms of acquisitions.
It has been 43 years since the franchise won a championship. The last time they reached the NBA Finals was in 2001, and since then, they have not even made it past the second round.
James’ arrival has already seen an impact on Philly’s ticket prices for next season, and the fans will be hoping to see a similar impact on the court as well. If the 41-year-old wins his fifth title in his new team, he will become the first player in league history to win a championship in four different franchises.
VJ Edgecombe on his FaceTime call with LeBron James
LeBron James has completed 23 seasons in the NBA and will play at least two more after signing a two-year deal with Philly. The expectations are higher than ever in Philly after their two big moves. Many look at the next two seasons as a championship-or-bust for the 76ers.
76ers star VJ Edgecombe is coming off an impressive rookie season. During an interview, the young star spoke about his FaceTime call with James after the announcement was made.
I was in disbelief, but I had to act cool. I had to act like I’d been there before. I’m on the phone all cool and stuff. My headphones on, I’m playing the game. Had to act all cool, but it’s really Bron. I was really geekin’ I ain’t gone lie.

James has delivered a championship wherever he has gone, and with the talent on paper, he will be expected to bring in some much-needed playoff and veteran experience to the locker room. But one thing is assured: this will be the final team of James’ career.
