Abdul Carter Publicly Calling his Teammate Out Over Political Stance Doesn’t Sit Well with Giants Legend

Former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes urged edge Abdul Carter to keep his difference of opinions with his teammates away from the internet because it only creates tension in the locker room.

In Short
  • Abdul Carter faced backlash for publicly criticizing teammate Jaxson Dart over his political stance.
  • Lawrence Tynes emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony in the locker room and criticized Carter's approach.
  • Carter and Dart resolved their differences through a private conversation, aiming to avoid distractions for the team.

It has been a difficult 24 hours for New York Giants edge Abdul Carter. He has been the target of hate tweets after calling out teammate Jaxson Dart for attending Donald Trump’s campaign.

On Saturday, the internet unraveled after Dart showed up at President Trump’s campaign in New York City. The 23-year-old described the moment as an “honor” and a “privilege.”

Carter came across clips of Dart’s statement and thought someone had played a prank by fiddling with AI. His reaction did not go down well on social media. Many pointed out that it’s none of Carter’s business which political figure Dart should support.

Former Giants kicker and two-time Super Bowl champion Lawrence Tynes noted that Carter made a mistake by publicly calling Dart out.

The locker room is a sacred place because it brings together everyone from all walks of life and beliefs for one common goal. Calling a teammate out publicly for his political views and to get attention is nasty work.

Lawrence Tynes tweeted

Abdul Carter made the right choice by speaking directly with Jaxson Dart

Carter and Dart were drafted 22 picks apart in 2025. Carter at third overall and Dart 25th overall. Both are viewed as the leading faces of a franchise that hasn’t won many games in recent years.

Last year, the G-Men won just four games, but that’s mostly because the defense struggled to keep the other team from scoring points. Dart had 24 total touchdowns and single digit interception record while Carter tallied 40+ tackles and 4 sacks.

As Tynes highlighted, teammates should avoid getting into conflict. It becomes a major distraction and a nuisance for the club to deal with. So, Carter and Dart made the right choice by ending the tension between them with a civilized meeting like grown men.

Me & JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as Men. Y’all can keep y’all narratives.

Carter played three seasons at Penn State. In 39 college football appearances, he registered 172 tackles, 23 sacks, 13 passes defended, and one interception. Carter has often been compared to another Penn State alum, Micah Parsons.

Analyst urges Jaxson Dart to focus on football

2026 is a big year for Dart and the Giants. It will be John Harbaugh’s first year coaching the NFC East franchise. Harbaugh agreed to coach them over other teams after meeting the Ole Miss alum. This proves that Harbaugh has a lot of faith in his young signal-caller.

That’s why veteran NFL journalist and critic Craig Carton urged Dart to focus on improving his craft instead of attending political events.

Jaxson Dart is gonna have to learn how to say no at some point. Cause he is living the life of a guy that has already accomplished a lot in the NFL…And I’m telling you, that is great while it’s great. But if you come out of the gate 1-3 and you’ve got seven picks and two touchdowns, it’s going to backfire on ya.

Carton said on ‘WFAN Sports Radio’ on May 22nd

This discourse should not affect Dart on the gridiron too much. He has been working out hard during the offseason, and he feels leaner than before.
