In Short
  • Abdul Carter publicly opposed teammate Jaxson Dart's support for Donald Trump, emphasizing their differing political beliefs.
  • Carter stated that their relationship remains strong despite the controversy, highlighting their camaraderie and mutual respect.
  • Giants head coach John Harbaugh noted the situation provided an opportunity for the team to engage in important discussions about real-life issues.

Nearly a week after calling out his teammate and New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart for supporting Donald Trump, edge Abdul Carter finally faced the media on Thursday. Carter made it clear that he and Dart have no animosity between them, even though they don’t share the same political ideology.

Last week, Dart attended a campaign in New York organized by President Trump’s party. Carter called out Dart for his actions, creating a media frenzy.

Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself in what he does, but he represent[s] all of us. And that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform. But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world.

Despite what the outside world thinks, this one incident will not sour the camaraderie they have built since the Giants drafted them. They discussed the subject like grown men and were able to come to an understanding.

That doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate. It doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson [Dart] hate each other or have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day. Every team meeting we’re close, we talk. As long as we make sure we got the same goal as a team and our goals align – which they do – that’s all that matters. I just want to move past this, and that’s it.

Giants head coach gives his honest opinion on Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter’s conflict on Donald Trump

Giants head coach John Harbaugh stayed silent on the conflict between Carter and Dart regarding Trump. He finally addressed the subject on Thursday.

It was a good opportunity for us as a football team to have these kind of conversations around real, a real-life incident. It’s one thing to talk about it in theory, … but when you have something that happens that’s, like, real, … you get a chance to talk about them practically.

Harbaugh said SNY Media

According to Harbaugh, veterans and team captains got together earlier this week for a discussion and resolved the matter.

We need to understand, really, how we approach these things going forward. … We’re in a good place now, we’re moving forward.
