Brandon Aiyuk finds himself in a fresh new controversy. The veteran wide receiver claims that he doesn’t have an agent.

In a video uploaded on Friday, Aiyuk reveals he’s no longer working with a certified NFL agent.

I do not have an agent. I terminated my SRA with my previous agent through the NFLPA last year in November.

The NFLPA website says something else. It clearly states that Ryan Williams of Athletes First is Aiyuk’s agent. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk backed the NFLPA’s claim.

Previously, in an interview, Williams confided that he hadn’t spoken with Aiyuk for a long time. Florio attributes this to the 28-year-old’s erratic behaviour.

Aiyuk not thinking he has an agent would explain his failure to follow his agent’s advice. Surely, Williams has not advised him to handle the situation the way he has.

Florio writes

Aiyuk agreed to a four-year, $30 million per year deal with the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. A horrible ACL tear ended his campaign after just seven games. His rehab was going smoothly, according to teammate and tight end George Kittle. But somewhere down the line, Aiyuk’s view took a drastic turn.

He began avoiding practice. He uploaded videos of zooming past the 49ers stadium instead of honoring his commitment to the club. When he failed to report back for the start of the season, the Niners voided his guaranteed money. He missed a year of football.

Now, Aiyuk is demanding that the 49ers either cut/release him or trade him to the Washington Commanders. General manager John Lynch is pretty sure the All-Pro wideout will no longer suit up for the Bay Area club. However, they are also reluctant to release him. A trade is not entirely off the table, but two parties must collude to make it a reality. So far, the Commanders are quietly observing the proceedings.

NFL analyst gives his honest take on Brandon Aiyuk’s situation

Historically, receivers are infamous for acting like divas on and off the field. Every year, one or two individuals will create a ruckus about contract extensions. But Aiyuk’s situation is unique. Some will say it resembles AJ Brown’s case with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sure, Brown wanted out of Philly, but he didn’t miss practice or gametime.

Aiyuk is desperately seeking a way out of California as if he hates living there. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network views this as an unprecedented occurrence.

It just never happens because usually you’ll have people close to the player, let’s say Brandon Aiyuk in this case, where you say ‘Listen, if you just kinda be quiet, this is gonna be OK. Just don’t be that guy that everyone is gonna be annoyed with’, and he does not seem to be listening to people close to him at all and hasn’t been for some time.

Rapoport said on the Pat McAfee Show

Kittle has been a big believer in Aiyuk ever since the 49ers drafted him 25th overall in 2020. After witnessing all the trouble he has caused, even he is praying it ends quickly.

Aiyuk’s motivation to play for the Commanders stems from his association with their quarterback, Jayden Daniels. BA and Daniels are old teammates. They played one year together at Arizona State.
