Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has backed McLaren driver Lando Norris to win the 2024 drivers championship. Norris has made big gains in recent weeks and currently trails Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just 52 points.

Lando Norris has been in formidable form throughout the season. The 24-year-old has won thrice this year, amassing a total of 11 podiums so far. He has, however, been far from clinical in his efforts, winning only once out of five pole starts this year.

I bet on Lando. What I saw in Singapore was just so good. Except for the few times he kissed the wall a little bit. Did he lose concentration? Did he try to do something? I don’t know, but it’s weird. Look at Magnussen, he does it once and it’s a puncture. The other hits the wall three times, doesn’t get anything. That’s just a view of how life is sometimes.

Guenther Steiner said on the Red Flags podcast

The 24-year-old heads into the last six races of the campaign needing to score eight points or more over Verstappen in each race to win the title. The Dutchman, who has won the title three times, will use his expertise and flair to hinder Norris as Formula 1 reaches an exciting finale.

Lando Norris labels Max Verstappen and Red Bull as the most dominant pair in Formula 1

Max Verstappen and Red Bull demonstrated sheer dominance, securing 19 out of 22 possible wins last season. Verstappen himself secured 16 of those wins, vividly showcasing his brilliance and talent to everyone on the grid.

I still have a lot of points I have got to catch up on, and it’s not going to be easy to do it. It’s against Red Bull and it’s against Max, the most dominant pairing you’ve ever seen in Formula 1 from last year. And that’s not necessarily changed. It’s the same team and is the same driver. So I have some of the toughest competition that I’ve Formula 1 has ever seen in the sport.
