Racing on street circuits is a different feeling itself. However Max Verstappen seems to prefer the old school track that aren’t built inside a city. Back when Formula 1 races in the 80’s, the cars were comparatively smaller which allowed them to race around street circuits with ease. A lot of precision is required to race on street circuits but nothing can beat the feeling of a good old classic race track built in the hills.

With the current rules and regulations in F1, the car have become comparatively bigger than the 80’s and that makes it harder for the drivers to race and manoeuvre their cars around the circuit. Max Verstappen has expressed his sheer disappointment as F1 is working on bringing more street races so that the fans will have greater access to the sport.

The number of street circuits present on the F1 calendar have kept on increasing year by year. With the addition of Saudi Arabia and Las Vegas, the number is at an all time high. Red Bull Racing Hotshot Max Verstappen is against it and wants things to change. He further explains the reasoning behind why today’s F1 cars aren’t made to be raced on street circuits.

In an interview with ViaPlay, here is what the 2022 world champion had to say. “I think we’re getting more and more street circuits, which I don’t enjoy in a Formula 1 car. A Formula 1 car is not designed to drive on a street track. A Formula 1 car comes alive in proper high-speed corners. I understand a few street circuits a year – it’s exciting – blah blah blah, and it’s good. But not too many,” he continued.

“It’s better to have the old-school tracks – like Suzuka as well. A qualifying lap around there is so much more fun than a random street circuit,” the Red Bull Racing driver further went on to say this as he justified his displeasure over racing on street circuits. For a driver who is surprisingly good on them, Max doesn’t seem to like racing on the streets.

Old and historic circuits have a different kind of feel to them and are much better when compared to street circuits. Taking Spa as an example, the Eau Rouge corner is so iconic with its elevation and scenery that it could never be topped by a street circuit. Tracks like Suzuka and Spa show you how good it is to race on normal circuits. Many people share the same thoughts that Max Verstappen has in F1’s current situation .
