“It will be massively different and massively easier,” Mike Krack describes how the new Aston Martin facility will help the team
In 2021, Racing Points was dissolved and in its place, Aston Martin came up, with Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel at the helm of the team which is headed by Mike Krack. While their first two years in Formula 1 were not up to expectation since they could not even put up a suitable competition to the top two middle-order teams–Alpine and McLaren–it is believed that newer and better things are in story for the Lawrence Stroll-owned outfit that operates from its original Jordan factory, which was inaugurated in 1991. The wind tunnel staff of the same team work from the Mercedes facility in Brackley.
Since the key personnel of the team are divided all over the place, it often becomes difficult to carry out a single order. But Aston Martin’s woes are going to come to an end now as the British team has announced they are building a new facility, which will be ready for an opening in May. The factory is being established right beside Aston Martin‘s existing base, and according to the reports, it will have the entire design department in a single office with every division of the team working from the same building. A nearby wind tunnel opening has also been planned, and that will be ready by 2024.
Aston Martin boss Mike Krack is undoubtedly happy with the route that his team is currently on. Following Sebastian Vettel‘s departure from the team due to his retirement from F1, Fernando Alonso joined them because he believes in their vision for clinching the top spot in the sport in future. And according to Krack, this factory is a step towards that future for Aston Martin. Having all the laborers and other team personnel under one roof will ease communication troubles, and this will make some key processes faster.

Mike Krack believes new factory will improve the logistical side of Aston Martin
Previously, since Aston Martin’s workers were working from separate stations which were spread all over England, there were several communication gaps and delays in processing information regarding team tactics, designs, technical problems, etc. Speaking on how the new factory will address this issue, Mike Krack said, “The fact that you can talk to people without having to arrange meetings, it facilitates the dialogue massively. And the other thing is also logistics, we should not forget to bring things from left to right or A to B, it will be massively different and massively easier.“
Last year, Aston Martin acquired a major investment from Aramco, an oil and gas company from Saudi Arabia. Besides that, the British team has also acquired IT giant Cognizant as a sponsor. Thus, the team has now got enough funds to improve their technologies that go into making the race cars. Now, it only remains to be seen how they make good use of their budget to get the best results in the future F1 seasons.
